I'm disappointed in the management at the Steele Creek Campground. Two of my friends and I rode our motorcycles 81 miles one way to see this campground. We were planning on camping here this fall. Arriving at 11:00am Friday morning, the young man at the gate was very nice, but said they didn't like people to ride through on busy... More

Payment - $25/night cash or check only, no debit or credit cards. Got that right off the bat which wasn't a good sign. Alcohol - No alcohol allowed signs posted prominently at the entrance. We imbibed anyway but were on our best behavior. Firewood - Green/unseasoned firewood $4 for a sizable bundle.Three starter logs and a quart of starter fluid... More

The staff were not all of that helpful. We were given a map and told to go set up on the island. We crossed the bridge and began setting up. After an hour, when we were almost finished, the manager said we could not set up where ae were. We had to move to a small cramped spot that was... More

we stayed at this campground for the first time this weekend. We came in on Thursday July 24th and left on Sunday the 27th. It looked like it was going to be a lot of fun, with the "beach" area and the water slide. My first issue is that the name of this campground is Steele Creek "family" Campground. Be... More

Biggest complaint is the cost of water slide for campers and the locals swarming to the campgrounds swimming hole.

Get cozy campground! Love the creek front sites. Clean bath houses. The kids love the water slide although it is pricey. It should be included for campers. The park is open to public swimming and they tend to take over the swimming area during the day. The pool is a joke - don't waste your time....but the creek makes up... More

Have not camped at Steele Creek just day trips and picnics. The water is cold and families can make some great memories. It is always a challenge to see who will go off the diving board first into the cold cold water.

Was told my friend and I would be better suited at another camground (that didnt even have toilets and showers), didnt even have a chance to view the rest of the campground, ended up staying at another camp ground, planned on bringing a group to the mountains at the end of the summer but will be using another place

This is a great place for camping out as well as cooling off. The water is always icey cold. Enjoy! There are also showers available. If you stay overnight on Saturday there is a dance party that is also alot of fun. They let you bring dogs, but only small ones which didn't work for me since I have a... More

Best thing about this campground is LOCATION on 181 just 10 or so miles south of the Blue Ridge Parkway and all the majestic views that go with a drive there. The Campground is VERY dated - the Camp Store did not have matches or a lighter for sale! - BUT bathrooms were CLEAN, campers were mostly families. Tent sites... More
