Motel is of the 50's era, it has been kept up fairly well. It sits in the side of a mountain about 2 miles above Maggie Valley. The mountains are spectacular! The temperature can be a cool 20 degrees cooler here compared to the valley. No air conditioning, didn't need it even in mid July. Local owners very nice people.... more

My husband and our two boys made a trip to Maggie Valley to take our boys to Ghost Town. I found the Abbey Inn online and it fit our budget. The room was clean, but a little musty and damp. It rained while we were there, so that may have been why it was damp. Our room had two double... more

My brother and I stayed here on a motorcycle trip that included the Blue Ridge Parkway. Abbey Inn is within two miles of the BRP and provided us a very pleasant stopping point one evening. The view is nice and the motel is close to the restaurants in Maggie Valley.....just a mile or two to town. The rooms were clean.... more

We found Abbey Inn by accident. We are glad we did and plan on going back next year. The view was breathtaking. The rooms were clean, neat, and comfortable. A real old fashion motor court. more

The rooms are small; there's no A/C; it's a 50's-retro feeling motor hotel -- but we just loved it, turning a two night intended stay into a four nighter -- and still hated to leave. What made it great for us: the elevation, cool temps, mountain views (you are just elevated over the roadway, so all you see are mountains);... more

After reading several reviews, I eagerly booked a night at the Abbey Inn, only to be disappointed. Their website makes them sound secluded; however, you are on a main road, and we could hear cars/trucks/motorcycles all night. We needed to have our windows open because they don't have AC, so we had to listen to the noise. The room was... more

I had planned on staying for 2 days but ended up staying five days. The room was spotless, the beds comfy, and the motel quiet. Do believe what you hear about it being cooler on the mountain; I had to close the windows and turn off the ceiling fan each night so that i wouldn't catch cold in the middle... more

Abbey Inn was an added bonus on our vacation in the mountains. It was very clean and quiet. The rooms were a bit small but that was not a problem for my husband, son and me. Ladies, there is no extra room for you to set out your toiletries in the bathroom. Again, that was not much of a problem... more

My husband and I stayed at the Abbey Inn on July 22, 2006 for one night. We found the hotel on the web. It looked nice and was in our budget so we gave it a try. Like the website advertises, the hotel sits on the side of a mountain and has a beautiful view. The owners were friendly and... more
