Motel is of the 50's era, it has been kept up fairly well. It sits in the side of a mountain about 2 miles above Maggie Valley. The mountains are spectacular! The temperature can be a cool 20 degrees cooler here compared to the valley. No air conditioning, didn't need it even in mid July. Local owners very nice people.... more

My brother and I stayed here on a motorcycle trip that included the Blue Ridge Parkway. Abbey Inn is within two miles of the BRP and provided us a very pleasant stopping point one evening. The rooms are small; there's no A/C; it's a 50's-retro feeling motor hotel -- but we just loved it, turning a two night intended stay into a four nighter -- and still hated to leave.
