I am the Youth Director for a country club in Atlanta. We have stayed at Smokey Shadows for 8-9 years now. It is located on the way up the mountain to Cataloochee Ski Resort. This makes your drive to the slopes very short. The kids love the big family room and kitchen. I love the two hallways in the main... More

Smoky Shadows is the ideal place to celebrate Fall and Halloween. Ginger and Bud Shinn throw the best parties in the Valley, with live bands, great food, fun, and fellowship. Family members, local friends, and guests have a wonderful time together. There's a costume contest on Halloween, so people of all ages, including kids, get in on the action. Solo travelers... More

We spent 5 wonderful days at Smokey Shadows, beautifully looked after by Ginger and Bud. Charming accommodation, and delightfully decorated with lovely period pieces collected by Ginger, who made us feel totally at home. Fantastic far reaching views from the verandah across the Smokey Mountains. If you are visiting be sure to go to the Opry in the Valley to... More

I have to say that this was the perfect setting for a casual, downhome wedding with friends and family! Ginger and her family were always there with a smile and were the epitome of "customer service"....they felt like family after our 2 day stay!!! The lodge is very rustic but comfortable and the food was "down home" and delicious. It... More

We were looking for something off the beaten path and rustic---weren't interested in fancy nor resorty and this exactly fit my mental picture. We were convenient to Maggie Valley and Waynesville but were tucked a mile or two off a secondary road in the mountains. We stayed in Shindig, a 106 year old log cabin with a stone woodburning fireplace.... More
