No way as good as it used to be ... there is even a tip jar on the new bar - how tacky / a Starbucks sign in the outfitters room / patrons were second best compared to employees of Natural Resources - now they charge for boat ride / dinner is no longer included / room was very small... More

Management response:

It is often difficult to return to a property after a number of years and see some change. Our Inn has made an extensive effort to complete substantial renovations since Dec. 2013. Our new ownership is working hard to resolve issues as they occur. Thank you for observations. We appreciate your feedback. More

We were so excited to stay after reading about the Greystone in Southern Living, but unfortunately our stay did not live up to the high praise they received in the article. We were booked in the Campbell Suite at the same time as a large wedding party who returned from the reception around midnight to continue the party in their... More

My daughter and I live in nearby Charlotte and made "day before" plans to stay in the Hillmont Campbell Room. The room itself, and the view from the room is beautiful. Lacking were any glasses from which to drink the complimentary split of wine in the room, the pilot light to the fireplace was not lit, and the cleaning of... More

this inn is a real jewel ... the new owners have updated the bar and dining room perfectly/ we go there for dinner and often have our extra guests stay there ... could not ask for a more welcoming atmosphere and then also have golf/boating/tennis/water sports/ croquet/hiking etc- so fortunate this inn has stayed top knotch through various ownerships including... We have visited the Greystone Inn for over 20 years and it has always been a very special experience for us. Sadly, from the reservations through the check out it was a very "bland" experience. The loss of the family influence is evident with every detail. Actually, all the fine details are gone and it now functions similar to a... More

Beautifully restored hotel, food excellent at a top rated restaurant. The activities offered on the Lake are worth the time invested. Close enough to Boone and Highlands to spend an afternoon exploring. Close to wonderful waterfalls with short strolls to see.

What a fabulous place for a weekend getaway! So relaxing and the staff are attentive and experts at making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast and dinners were well prepared and delicious, the service was excellent and the view of the lake from the dining room spectacular . We had a comfortable bed and couch in our room with... More

Our stay was remarkable. The food was outstanding, the staff was outstanding, the location was... Outstanding. We were greeted warmly and every aspect of our stay was memorable, including the recognition of and champagne from the Innkeeper in celebration of our recent wedding. Highest recommendation with shout outs to Clark & Chris.

We spent our 20th Anniversary getaway here and loved it! The inn is located on a lovely private lake. Our sundown champagne boat cruise was piloted by the Inn's General Manager who shared history of the area and kept the champagne flowing! Your rate includes a 5 course dinner with great choices and a 3 course breakfast with the best... More

We jumped on a Groupon to stay here and were very glad that we did. Our rate included with each night, a 3 course made to order breakfast, a 5 course dinner that was quite good and very elegant, a champagne boat cruise around Lake Toxaway. You don't just find this place driving around. You have to know where you... More
