After reading the great reviews, my husband and I chose this motel for our first Outer Banks vacation. It was the right decision, we really enjoyed it! We weren't able to get an oceanfront room (those seem to be booked well in advance) but our poolside room was not disappointing. We just had a short walk around the corner to... more

This motel was EXACTLY what I was looking for in the OBX. Directly on the beach, no sand dunes blocking the view, relaxed friendly atmosphere, close to everything! The room was cute in its beachy motif, the adirondack chairs on the walk were a welcome retreat from the sun. I sat in the chairs early to watch the sun rise,... more

We stayed at Cavalier Motel this year before the busy season and it was wonderful. Our room was oceanfront, and as others have mentioned, you really walk right out your door and are on the beach instead of at a number of other hotels where you have to cross dunes or take a long trip to get to the beach.... more

My husband and I have two dogs who go everywhere with us. For years we stayed at the Whalebone, but the best part of it got wiped out by Hurricane Isabel in 2003. Next was the Manor Motel, which we liked, but a couple of years ago they remodeled -- pets no longer allowed. So we ended up here at... more

If you're looking for an inexpensive stay at the Outer Banks in off season, the Cavalier Motel is it. The property is steps away from the ocean and close to all scenic spots. Our trip was in October and the weather was 80 degrees the entire week. The staff and guests are fanstastic (most have been vacationing at this location... more

This was my first trip to the Outer Banks and I coudn't have picked a better place to stay. In fact I am planning my next trip already. The location is perfect!! Yes it is a little retro but the rooms are clean and confortable. They serve their purpose very well and the beach was right outside the door. Loved... more

My mother and I stayed here for the first time last March. We were looking for an inexpensive, oceanfront efficiency or oceanfront room with two beds, and this was just the place! We were in an oceanfront efficiency, and when you step out your door, you are literally ON the beach. Some oceanfront rooms at other motels have you down... more

The staff at the Cavalier was very nice and helpful. Our rooms were very basic and the bathroom was small but the view from our oceanfront room made up for that. The views were wonderful. The Motel is in a wonderful location. It's close to several great places to eat. The room was very clean. The only problem that we... more

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our first room had a very strong chemical smell and they were very quick to move us to a different room. The rooms were very basic but clean. A/c worked great. The bathrooms were small to the point that they were almost uncomfortable. Considering we only paid $37 a night I cannot complain... more

We have stayed at the Cavalier many times. It is an older mom and pop motel right on the beach. The rooms are basic, typical beach decor, very clean. There is a pool, playground and suffleboard. The oceanfront rooms are literally right on the beach. We always go off season, but the in season rates are still better than most.... more
