This place is just okay. It's old and weather beaten on the outside. The type of place carpets are stained and unattractive, but vacuumed. The bathroom was clean, and the linens were clean. That's the important part, right? The room had a mini-fridge, microwave and coffeemaker, all were clean. Access to the beach is great here, which considerably ups the... More

I picked this hotel because of it is pet friendly with very reasonable pet fees ($20 night). It has a great location, right in between Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head with beach access. The front desk staff is quite helpful and kind. The hotel itself is well maintained; a little run down but I would not expect any less... More

I LOVED this place. If and when we go back, this will be the place I stay. Great location, staff and rooms. The view I had was nothing like I have ever seen, it was Beautiful!!! The only thing bad I have to say about the place is...If you have oceanfront rooms on the bottom. They need to add steps... More

Our post-Labor Day stay at the John Yancey Oceanfront Inn was very comfortable and affordable. We were pleased with the clean room and the front-desk personnel was very friendly and accommodating when we asked for extra linens. The breakfast room was very nice and had a great variety of "continental" style selections. This hotel also was very pet friendly and... More

We wanted a cheap room for the night and that is what we got. The hallway stunk of cigarettes and stale beer. The room was difficult to find they should have better signage up. We debated driving back to Norfolk for a cheaper room and we should have. Like I said though it was the cheapest room on the strip... More

We were a little apprehensive after booking this for 3 days. But we always try to give a place the benefit of doubt... I want to say... you have to remember that this is a hotel. In saying that we have loved visiting John Yancey Oceanfront Inn! Our room was clean and the staff was amazing. Each morning we went... More

We have stayed here many summers for short weekend trips down to OBX, it's no frills but serviceable, they allow dogs, and have a nice little deck and easy beach access. The staff is normally very helpful and friendly. However, we are hesitant to return if the hotel doesn't do something about all the smoking in common areas. They have... More

Do not believe the online photos ....the place is very run down. The breakfast is limited and the breakfast room quite unpleasant. The pool is small and shabby looking. Read the fine print....if, due to an emergency, you need to leave prior to your ordinal check out date, they will not refund any money, but will charge you for the... More

I've stayed in a lot of motels in the outer banks and this one ranks low. I paid $123.00 to stay here in late May. The chairs in the room were wet. And the shower still had wet towels in it. The door had gaps around the frame. I was on the first floor and the curtain didn't close all... More

Our room had two double beds with a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. It was a clean, average size room that served it's purpose. It had a balcony on the ocean side with a sliding glass door. It is an older hotel and does have some wear and tear to it, but no more than any other place I've... More
