Book early, this place is popular! And for good reason. Maddy - and all the dogs, chickens, ducks - warmly greats you and proudly shows you around her property. There are ruins, walking trails and swimming holes on site. Our party of three stayed in the dorm room. As some of the beds had mosquito nets and others did not,... More

We had 2 couples who were visiting Belize and this was the place we stayed for 5 nights while seeing some of the sights around Western Belize/San Ignacio. We had the Red and Coco cabanas. One had an indoor BR and the other had outdoor facilities. Both were elevated to catch the breeze - fans are available (no AC in... More

Lower Dover and its surroundings are beautiful - perfect if you want something rural. You can walk on the trails and there's and you can swim in the river. The food I had was great and Maddy was so friendly and helpful. I was on my own and it was lovely to take the dogs with me to explore. Everything... More

We arrived at Lower Dover on our second day in Belize, having been turned down in Santa Elena as they were full. It was our good fortune that we found Maddy and Lower Dover, for they have a truly unique set up there, that shouldn't be missed. We highly recommend this Jungle lodge, whether a backpacker or have your own transport

The perfect area to stay and visit Mayan ruins. You'll be hosted so well and Maddy can provide fantastic experience and guidance for tours. I was in the Red Cabana with a friend and it was just lovely. The grounds are fabulous and well worth a tour themselves. The location is 10min walk from the main road where you can... More

I stayed here for 4 nights, the proprietor oozes hospitality, continuously striving to ensure all your needs are met. The location is within easy striking distance of the ATM Cave and Mayan ruins. There is nothing more relaxing then waking to the sound of water from the stream, parakeets' and geckos'. All guests sit down together for meals which allows... More

First of all, the location is at least 45 minutes away from anything you want to do. Transportation is a nightmare but the owners will (begrudgingly) help you find a cab. We never got a key to our room so it was never locked when we left. There is wifi but only in the common dining room. There is beer... More

This complaint is a bit disturbing on two fronts. First a review of our receipts do not indicate anyone from Omaha Nebraska stayed with us in November 2015. Second the staff goes out of their way to accommodate guests needs from arranging tours to providing transportation options. I can assure anyone considering a stay at Lower Dover that we have... Lower Dover is the most magical place I have stayed! It is remote enough that you are in the jungle yet easily accessible as the bus stop is just blocks away. We only booked three nights and I would love to have stayed more! We didn't realize how easy it was to get to San Ignacio or Belize city via... More

This is a brilliantly located, affordable and friendly eco-lodge with great opportunities to spot wildlife on the grounds and a base from which to explore the area or do activities. The owner, Maddy, really goes out of her way to ensure you get the most out of the area and will spend time with every guest helping them plan their... More

Lower Dover is a unique experience. I've never felt as welcomed or at home as when I pulled up to this Jungle Lodge. Madeline is so hospitable and she will guide you to the best excursions in Belize. This Jungle Lodge offers clean accomadations as well as hot showers, a Jungle trail (with your very own dog tour guide) ,... More
