Staff was super nice but ended there. Way over priced, needs to be updated. Room faced the Rock Garden which could have been beautiful but not kept up (plants were dead, statue broken & etc.). Front is pretty but pretty much ended there.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were disappointed in your stay over Labor day weekend. We note that your family visited with our staff many times in our lobby over the course of the weekend and never voiced any displeasure. I would also like to point out that the rooms you stayed in were remodeled with... More

I have seen this particular hotel in passing since I was a college student at WCU, but never felt that I could afford to stay at the inn. As I would walk up and down the streets I wondered what it must be like to sit on the upper porch, rock, read and have a glass of wine as the... More

Highlands Inn was as advertised. Very quaint, with very friendly service. We stayed in the Nantahala Room. Our room was nice with a large closet and bathroom. The room and hotel were clean. The people who worked there were super helpful, and there was fresh baked chocolate chip cookies every night. There is nice rooftop area to hang out if... More

I have been coming to Highlands since I was a young child. My family had a home here for years. I have always wanted to stay at the Highlands Inn and finally, we did! It is as beautiful as I imagined. The weather was perfect and our room was warm and inviting. The staff is very hospitable. We had a... More

. We stayed three nights with my brothers and sisters and their wives. There were four rooms of us. Everything was wonderful. We had rooms on the Back overlooking the courtyard and on the main street porch. There was nothing we could have wanted. Rooms were great. Clean and comfortable. Staff was the best and Breakfast was an asset to... More

This is my first Tripadvisor review but I honestly felt like I had to warn people to stay somewhere else! We stayed one night in the Garden Suite (@ extra cost) and the room was so musty you could hardly stay inside with the door closed. The water in the tub was yellow and the room should have been renovated... More

Thank you for your review. Communication goes a long way and I am sorry that we failed you. You stayed in our Garden cottage which is separate from the Main Inn. While we feel the Garden Suite Cottage is a charming, quiet and secluded place to stay, we realize that it is not everyone's cup of tea. It is a... More

The Highlands Inn continues to hold great appeal for me because of its quiet and relaxing atmosphere and its location right in the heart of town. The Inn makes no pretense of being fast-paced. Instead, it seems more to revel in its age and old beauty. My room was comfortable, although not huge, and well appointed. A little balcony was... More

Awesome stay! When looking for an overnight stay and extended stay. Very friendly staff Very convenient to area downtown and walking distances to high end shopping and eating. Lodge is located near main street without the main street noise, so you are close to the "happening" but quiet and surrounded by trees up on the hill. Hot breakfast in morning,... More

This is a quaint old hotel in need of a little TLC, but look past that and just relax and enjoy. Close proximity to shops and restaurants is what makes this Inn. Enjoy your coffee or adult beverage on the expansive balcony overlooking Main St.

My husband and I enjoy historic inns that haven't been modernized to the point of chain hotels. The Highlands Inn is quaint, fun and in a great location. The staff (Tim at the front desk) are all friendly and helpful. We love the garden suite cottage in the back. Breakfast was delicious, and the menu had a variety of good... More
