My husband and I recently spent a couple of nights at Colonial Pines Inn B&B. We did not stay in the main house, but chose The Bargain Basement. We loved the convenience of this room - it is in a separate building, very close to the main house, with no stairs to climb and parking very close to the entrance.... More

I've been coming to Highlands for many years. I'm so sorry I didn't discover this gem sooner. Gracious hosts, classic mountain ambiance and a perfect locale. Rooms are well appointed, super clean, and each has its own flair. Breakfasts cannot be beat. Allow Donna and Chris to make you feel so welcome. I will be back.

We love visiting Highlands NC. We like the downtown , the local hikes and staying in a wonderful, homey comfortable place like Colonial Pines. If you like parking your car and walking into town or to the local performing arts center then this is a perfect location to do that. Chris and Donna are the perfect host and hostess. The... More

We were thrilled to find our first choice of a Highlands B&B to be the best! What a lovely home, grounds, and place to visit. I don't think the online photos do justice - the attention to detail at this B&B makes it stand out over others. The innkeepers, Donna and Chris, are very nice and make you feel at... More

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this B&B this year. Everything about it was perfect..beautiful setting, charming and comfortable room, beautifully decorated down to every detail, delicious food and the most gracious hosts you can imagine. Donna loaned me a jacket for the weekend when she noticed my light sweater wouldn't be warm enough for the cool weather.... More

Had a wonderful 2 day getaway at the Colonial Pines Inn B&B in Highlands, NC. The innkeepers Donna & Chris were such gracious hosts and made our stay warm and comfortable. The delicious morning breakfasts filled you up and no lunch was necessary. Donna is a great cook and baker with her afternoon treats in the guest pantry. Teas and... More

This is such a peaceful place in a great little mountain city. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The Inn is beautifully maintained and cozy and the perfect place to relax and recharge your soul! The breakfasts are enormous and very delicious. So beautifully prepared and served. Donna has a real gift for presentation. Donna knows everything going on in... More

This is the best spot I have ever found to relax. The breeze on the large porch with rocking chairs is inviting. The Inn sits on top of a steep knoll which yields a nice vista. The pine paneling inside the Inn gives the feeling of an old lodge. Breakfast is always delicious and plentiful. The location is just several... More

This is a wonderful property, expertly managed by a couple who know their business and how to make guests feel comfortable, relaxed, and well fed. Breakfast as prepared by Donna is a thing of beauty which gets you through your day without need for a big lunch - or any lunch if you want to save your appetite for one... More

My husband and I stayed at the Colonial Pines Inn for two nights for a weekend getaway. We could not have picked a better place to stay. Donna is a wonderful hostess, the accommodations were delightful, and breakfast was amazingly delicious. We stayed in the last room she had available - the "bargain basement." It really is on the ground... More
