Traveling the Parkway is a favorite thing for us to do. Staying at small, privately own motels is another. We found the New River Inn by accident, and were sure glad we did. We like to park outside of our room. We like out of the way places, We like coffee in the room. All of this and great friendly... More

On a recent trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway, we stayed at the New River Inn and Cottages. Sunday, Oct. 12, was a very foggy and rainy day, so our daily excursions were limited. We started out on the Parkway, driving south through the fog, and actually arrived at the New River Inn around 2:15 PM. Check-in was at 3,... More

Owners very friendly, honest and rooms extremely clean. Convenient to Blue Ridge Parkway. Easy to find. Perfect off-the-parkway place. Good value. Would definitely stay there again. Very relaxing. Good views.

This is a great little place, privately owned and right off the Blue Ridge Parkway near the former Northwest Trading Post (now Sallie Mae's gift store). It is a 60s era motel whose rooms have been recently renovated with fresh paint and new carpet. There were a few rooms with king beds and others with two doubles. The beds were... More

We have stayed at this Inn several times, most recently October 25th through 27th. Even though the Inn was completely booked, we still enjoyed peace and quiet, a nice clean room, and exceptional service from the staff. Our dog recognized this home away from home and was happy and comfortable too. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thanks... More

We stayed on October 17 and 18 2014 and are looking forward to staying again next Summer. Our cottage, "Drew", was excellent, clean, comfortable and equipped with all you would need for an extended stay, stove, microwave and fridge. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our group. You certainly can't find a better location, just a couple... More

We spent three days exploring along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and a bit of Virginia and stayed at the New River Inn for two nights. It consisted of perhaps 15 rooms that were typical motel rooms. We stayed in one that had two double beds and the price was quite affordable compared to the rooms in towns... More

We spent 1 night at the New River Inn and Cottages while driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is right behind the Northwest Trading Post at mile marker 259. The rooms were clean and neat, rather small. The bed was comfortable. The rates were very reasonable and included a continental breakfast. This is just a comfortable place to spend the... More

The motel was older but it was very clean and the mattresses/pillows were very comfy. The one thing I really wished they had in the rooms were a small fridge and ice. They had a continental breakfast which included poptarts, cereal, some fruit, juice and coffee. If you are looking for fancy, then this isn't the place for you but... More

This is an older motel type place but it was updated and clean. The price was right and the breakfast got you going with cereals, fruit, pop-tarts, juice, coffee etc. Great location if traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nice deck to have a snack and some wine but it was raining when we were there. Pet owners take note, there... More
