We come once or twice a year. Right off the parkway, it is with-in driving distance of may attractions in the Boone area, the Virginia Creeper, vineries and of course Zooloes Canoes. I am impressed that that can keep the bath houses as clean as they do with the amount of people who are camping there. What I enjoy most... More

We had never heard of this campground, we chose it because of the location - we wanted to be within a reasonable drive to Damascus for the Virginia Creeper Trail but to also stay in NC. The people were very friendly at check in, complete with a welcome wagon (older gentleman in overalls on a golf cart who even helped... More

This is a well-kept campground right off the parkway. It is nicely shaded and has a pretty lake. We camped in a tent in a "field" near the bathhouse. The bathhouse was large and clean. The campground is very convenient to Glendale Springs and the parkway, including the store on the parkway that sells crafts. The campground itself has a... More

The grounds of this RV campground are beautifully maintained. There is a grassy hill to watch the sunset, a pond for fishing or meditating. It is quiet, save summer when the kids are out and about. It is huge and such a variety of campsites that most everyone should be pleased, even us cable-TV junkies. Friendly people are everywhere. An... More

Expecting a much more "rustic" experience, we were pleasantly surprised to find a large, well-kept and extremely clean campground. We have a Class B camper and were delighted with our site - 95A - great shade. It had water and electric but no sewer; no problem as there is a dumping facility available. We had permanent campers on one side... More

A nice campground but mainly a campground for "permanent" campers. About 75 % of the sites are "permanent". We asked for a site (we had reserved three (3) next to the bathroom(s) (medical reasons) and were given a site "close". Sites next to the bathroom were occupied by "permanent" campers. Permanent campers had their own facilities in their campers. They... More

I am sorry to hear that your experience was less than expected. Seasonal residents make up about 40% of our campground. Around 60% is open for monthly, weekly and overnight. Because of our beautiful location, cleanliness and friendliness, we are very busy in the summer. Sometimes we are not able to provide sites in the exact location desired if reservations... More

We stayed here for 2 nights while we were visiting West Jefferson and the surrounding area. The grounds are very clean and everything is well kept. We had a great site with lots of shade and we didn't have any close neighbors. There were no full hook up sites available when we were there but it wasn't a problem since... More

I have just completed another summer stay of six months at Raccoon Holler Campground. This is such a wonderful place to live every year! The grounds are beautiful, the owners Louis and Janet, and Helen the office manager are the big asset and make my life so easy and wonderful. Since I have two dogs I also appreciate how pet... More

I first stayed at Raccoon Holler as a Child back in the late 70's. It was one of my Favorites. As an adult, I have brought my kids there as it is one of the cleanest, mountain campgrounds in all of NC. Let me say it has changed a bunch...... It is overwhlemingly Seasonal campers who have taken all of... More

This is our favorite campground. We loved it so much the first year for weekend camping that we became seasonal campers the next year and every year after. There are sunny sites, shady sites "in the woods" and beautiful tent sites throughout. Located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway gives access to many activities and attractions and there is a... More
