Excellent hotel with very friendly owners. Basic accommodations but on site restaurant more than makes up for it. They are currently upgrading to memory foam beds. Best nights sleep I've ever had. Rates are good at $55 a night for single with queen bed and $66 for room with multiple beds +tax of course. This place saves me $200 a... More

It not fancy but it lovely clean just as nice as can be. The proprietors Bob and Ursala go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. And it was the best internet connection I've ever had at any hotel!! The breakfast is nice the sausages are especially good

I stayed here the weekend of January 17, 2015. I have stayed at this hotel 5 or 6 times over the course of the past seasons. The owners are Bob and Ursala, and they are excellent hosts--always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate their guest as much as possible. The rates are very reasonable. The beds are comfortable.... More

We were on a scheduled late season two day hunt at lake mattamuskeet. When we arrived on Thursday night it was fairly late but the "inn keepers" were more then warm and welcoming. Its the ONLY place in Engelhard and very close to Mattamuskeet. Sure their are other hotels a few more miles away in fayettville but 4a.m. comes early... More

I stayed at the Hotel Engelhard because it was much closer to where I had business than driving the 60 or so miles in from Nags Head. This is essentially a no frills hunting lodge. Rooms are small but comfortable. The folks that own the place are the best. Very friendly. Tiny restaurant serves breakfast on paper plates and the... More

This hotel is pretty much the only option in the area, and, while far from luxurious, is perfect in its own right. Our room was small and spartan but the heater worked and kept us cozy on a frigid night. The pizza totally hit the spot, and we had nice conversations with the owner and his daughter both at dinner... More

Often while traveling, I try to support the relative community by staying in original amenities. This hotel is more of a B&B from a step back in time. Rooms are very basic. Dinner and breakfast were delicious as they were made on order from the host of the hotel. State rate of 60 dollars covered breakfast and room. In reviewing,... More

This is not a bed & breakfast nor a typical hotel. It's a building with 15 rooms and a breakfast room which caters to guest and outside customers. There's a small lobby area. Considering the fact that there are not too many other options in Engelhard I would rate this place above average. Rooms are small, bathrooms are tiny but everything... More

Stayed overnight on January 20 2013. We called for a reservation and the gentleman who answered said just OK! He actually trusted us to come without taking our CC number! When we arrived we were met by a tee- shirted gentlemen, who we found out later was the proprietor of the hotel. He showed us to our rooms and invited... More

We stayed at this homely hotel for two nights, exploring Mattamuskeet and surroundings for birds. Our room right off the lobby or living room was clean and cozy with a queen bed and a twin. Heater worked very well and reasonably quiet. Mind you this is not your typical Holiday Express or Best Western. Building is not brand new but... More
