The highs: The room (8th floor) was very nice, looked to be newly remodeled. The location is very convenient to Duke University and downtown Durham. The lows: The parking situation is pathetic. On the night we stayed, we were told to park in the hotel's parking lot which is across the street and down an alley behind some buildings. It... more

I stayed at this hotel during a recent business trip to Durham. The parking mentioned in other reviews is not that bad. It's very close. The staff was very nice and helpful. Most hotels have HD TVs now, but this place actually had crystal clear HD channels to go along with it..... even HDNet!! This is, without questions, the best... more

We stayed here on a trip to visit family in Durham. The room was okay and the crib was passable. The problem was that they did not have the type of room we reserved. So, at check-in they informed us of this and upgraded us at no extra charge to the top floor. Those who stay on the top floor... more

I chose this hotel only for its proximity to the Durham Performing Arts Center, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the property and service. The first thing I asked for was directions to the Peforming Arts Center. The desk clerk gave me a map and showed the directions, but added that the hotel has a courtesy shuttle both... more

Staff looked as if they didn't know what they were doing during check in, which took much longer than it needed to. They seemed thrown by the fact that a friend booked the reservation (as part of a wedding group). The parking lot 2 lots away across the street was inconvenient, and the bellman (who was extremely nice and helpful)... more

This hotel far exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort and value. This is the first time I have ever stayed in a hotel and wanted to know the brand of the mattress and sheets because they were so comfortable. We loved the plasma TV too. Overall, we were very pleased by our stay at the Marriot. more

Parking was across the street in a separate lot, which wasn't an issue for us but the lot did fill up. Some of our other family with us had to find off street parking. Upon arrival at the hotel, there were only 3 luggage carts, which had to be hunted down to use. Staff was very friendly and helpful during... more

The hotel is an average Marriott property (and I've stayed in most of them), with average size rooms, regular Marriott beds, average age (my guess is the building is around 15-20 years old), and the usual cramped Marriott bathrooms. My room was upgraded about two years ago (new style furnishings and the 32" LCD TV but not with the latest-standard... more

My fiance plays for Durham Bulls and upon being moved from AA baseball to AAA Durham, the team booked us in this hotel while we found a new apartment. I believe they are the official sponser of the bulls and they are amazing. The hotel is in a prime location and the staff go above and beyond to make your... more

I stayed here for a conference that was taking place at Duke University. This hotel is not as close to Duke U as I originally thought when I made the reservation. However, they offer a complimentary shuttle that will take you within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable. It is a typical Marriott,... more
