I have stayed at the Brookwood five times, twice for five weeks while getting treatment at Duke Medical Center. The hotel is designed to serve the medical center, and not for people looking for luxury accommodations. My daughter and I stayed in the Brookwood, across the street from Duke University, as my husband was having heart surgery in the VA hospital.. They lied to us, scammed my credit card for money, and called security on us when we complained about them charging my credit card, when we clearly told them we were entittled to medical expenses... more

I went in asking "for the lowest possible rate available. Whether that is the medical rate, AAA or senior citizen. If you have to have something done at Duke Hospital this is a good place to stay. Within walking distance so you dont have to pay for parking. Have a little resturant inside, free shuttle service. more

Stayed one night while friend was having surgery at Duke. She paid for hotel and breakfast with her card. BEWARE OF EXTRA CREDIT CARD CHARGES! The only time I used my credit card was for dinner. I stayed at the Brookwood Inn the nights of November 1 and 2 because I had an appointment at Duke Medical Center and I was traveling from 350 miles away. Its definitely not a luxury hotel.
