The Barrier Island experience my family and I had was a positive one. Yes, the place is dated and a little warn in places bit I found it to be a very good bargain/deal/find. I am a single Dad and was very happy with my arrangements. Apparently the cleanliness issue that some people mentioned was taken to heart as my... More

Tons of construction going on. I loved the beach! The place we rented needs renovation. In general the area, while seemingly quaint, was pretty run down. Being wood slivers were a frequent event. The wifi didn't work well. It's a lot of money to feel this "camp-like." I like amenities, which were dated at best.

my husband and I and our two teenage daughters (and their friend) stayed the week of 8/8 -8/15. We were in a 2 bedroom which consisted of a living/dining kitchen area and 1 (twin) bedroom and bath on the 1st level and a huge queen master bedroom and huge bath (with jacuzzi) tub and private deck, plus sitting area on... I don't understand the negative reviews here. We had been holding off scheduling a vacation because our dog, Cody, was very sick and could not leave him. He ended up passing and we were devastated and needed a "get away." After searching daily for weeks for a decent vacation we stumbled upon Barrier Island Station who had available accommodations for... More

My family and I stayed at Barrier Island the week of 8/8-8/15, 2015. The worst part of staying at Barrier Island is the check-in process. This is our second year staying and I was nervous about the check in based off our experience last year. I'll get to that, but say this year, while still leaving a lot to be... More

Outside of the unit being old, sloping floors in the unit, and furniture that looks like it was last cleaned in prior decades, it would seem that nothing further could mar our vacation experience at Barrier Island Station 'Resort' (in this instance the use of the term Resort seems almost insulting to guests). That is until I received a phone... More

ocean Pines is the sister resort of Barrier Island and is about 3 miles up the road. We booked this through RCI and stayed in the units right at the beach. Has recently been renovated and we had a beautiful view of the beach. Had plenty of room for the four of us ( two bedroom). This is a quiet... More

Delicious and worth the wait. A Duck "must do". The only time of year it is worth eating a donut. :-) friendly staff, delicious donuts and a family tradition. You will not be disappointed!! If you go in the morning, it's best to park across the street-parking can be tricky due to the popularity of this hot spot!!

We booked at BIS through an RCI exchange and knew what to expect: a dated but comfortable experience. We were placed in building 1, unit 110. Not including the landings, it's about 40 steps to the unit. No complaints. Building had undergone a recent exterior reno with new windows, siding, decks and steps. You have to guess what kind of... This is an old property so expect that the Units will be outdated. Our Unit was so clean and bright that we didn't care that the furniture was from the 80's. The beach is beautiful!!! The lifeguards have a great service where they will set you up with an umbrella and beach chairs. It's not cheap, I think it was... More
