The room we stayed in was not big, it it served the purpose. The grounds were well- kept and have had a significant amount of improvement and updating over the last 3 years. There are park benches and swings scattered around the property, and they have a bonfire each evening. They also have flower beds and bird feeders to attract... More

Like staying in a cabin in the woods, the room was cutely decorated in a fishing motif. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the room and bath extremely clean. You walk out to the creek rushing by and campers in tents across the river. A fun place to stay and we highly recommend it.

We stayed in the #14 Hickory Nut Bungalow. Loved it. It was exactly what we needed and the room was very clean. It is a modest motel, but comfortable. Our stay was peaceful and the view of the river and Hickory Nut Falls was exactly as promised in the motel's description of the room. We plan to stay there again!

My family and I have a cabin not to far from Evening Shade. We were having a family retreat and our place was occupied with family members. This little motel is on the river and the scenery is the reason to go to the mountains. This little hotel is very small. Each room has it's own mountain character with pretty... More

We only stayed one night, we were in the bear paw room, would stay again, but not in a bottom room, it was loud, and I am sure the people upstairs were not being overly loud, but they were just walking around. The room was a little small for 2 beds, but it was very clean and although slow, it... More

What a great stay at a cute little motel. We stayed there on a trip to hike Chimney Rock and had a wonderful time. They have some picnic tables and swings right on the river and a fire pit for making smores. The kind staff even provided us with the skewers and marshmallows. We stayed in a room that was... More

My husband and I have stayed in this quaint little motel several times and each time we are pleased. We request a certain room- number 7-It's always very clean, adorably decorated, and it feels like home away from home!!! Our room has the cutest little porch off the back (I think they all do)that overlooks the stream-The sound of the... More

We have stayed here many times when we travel to the mountains. There is a great view of Chimney Rock. The river is very soothing to watch and listen to. Every night there is a bonfire where everybody sits around visits and makes smores. The only downside is that management sticks to the 10:00 quiet rule.

We stayed 2 nights in Chimney Rock on a driving trip through the Carolinas. I had seen the rooms online and thought they looked cabin-like and would give some "atmosphere" to our visit. At first I was a little put off with the tiny bathroom (although extremely clean and well maintained), and the fact that there was no phone, hair... More
