found this cute little homey place from a friend. I was quite surprised at the room size (because friend said it was small) our room had 2 queen beds and was plenty roomy for us to walk around. the best part of the stay was the river view. we could also see the top of Chimney Rock with the flag... My wife and I spent a weekend in the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area and during a conversation with another couple, they suggested if we came back in the future to stay at the Evening Shade River Lodge & Cabins. They stated it was the best place to stay at in the area. We checked out their website information and stopped... More

Great little comfortable place. The most relaxing time we have ever had. The place is nothing fancy but it is clean and the setting is beautiful. After spending the day doing whatever we could not wait to get back and either sit by the river or on our balcony. The only bad is @ 8am the office puts coffee on... More

I was there July 26-28 2014. This place has several cottagesq units that back right up to the rocky broad river. You fall asleep to the sound of rushing water and the cool Mt air. We were able to sleep with our windows open and just a fan at night! The rooms are clean, they do have a kind'a damp... More

The room we stayed in was not big, it it served the purpose. The grounds were well- kept and have had a significant amount of improvement and updating over the last 3 years. There are park benches and swings scattered around the property, and they have a bonfire each evening. They also have flower beds and bird feeders to attract... More

Like staying in a cabin in the woods, the room was cutely decorated in a fishing motif. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the room and bath extremely clean. You walk out to the creek rushing by and campers in tents across the river. A fun place to stay and we highly recommend it.

We stayed in the #14 Hickory Nut Bungalow. Loved it. It was exactly what we needed and the room was very clean. It is a modest motel, but comfortable. Our stay was peaceful and the view of the river and Hickory Nut Falls was exactly as promised in the motel's description of the room. We plan to stay there again!

My family and I have a cabin not to far from Evening Shade. We were having a family retreat and our place was occupied with family members. This little motel is on the river and the scenery is the reason to go to the mountains. This little hotel is very small. Each room has it's own mountain character with pretty... More

We only stayed one night, we were in the bear paw room, would stay again, but not in a bottom room, it was loud, and I am sure the people upstairs were not being overly loud, but they were just walking around. The room was a little small for 2 beds, but it was very clean and although slow, it... More

What a great stay at a cute little motel. We stayed there on a trip to hike Chimney Rock and had a wonderful time. They have some picnic tables and swings right on the river and a fire pit for making smores. The kind staff even provided us with the skewers and marshmallows. We stayed in a room that was... More
