Although our reason for visiting the area was half an hour away, we opted to return to The Carolina Inn because we liked our first visit there so much two years ago. Last time our standard room was a little cramped (not bad), so this time we sprang for the King Suite, which was fabulous: luxuriously and attractively renovated with... More

Having first experienced the Inn as a poor college student who stretched his budget to treat his girlfriend (now wife) to lunch at the Hill Dining Room after Sunday church services, it is nice to be able to enjoy all of the amenities 35 years later. Although there have been many changes, all for the better, the quality of the... More

I travel a lot and this is the only hotel that I've visited in a long time that has turn-down service. The hotel has character and a beautiful decor. It is not "stuffy" at all, but feels like staying in a someone's personal residence. I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

We took advantage of the bar to have dinner during the big game against Duke. Our 2 daughters ate with us then went to Franklin Street to experience a little of the big game win celebration. We all felt very safe and were very happy to be in walking distance of it all. Toured the campus and so nice to... More

Had a great overnight stay while visiting nearby colleges. The pictures and website info are all true - beautiful place in the heart of the action (but quiet b/c it's two blocks off the main drag) with excellent staff.

I went to UNC and have stayed at the Carolina Inn many times. My family has also stayed there for football games, graduation and other events. It is an excellent place to stay if you're visiting Carolina to visit the school, go to a game, check out Chapel Hill or any other reason. It is right in the center of... More

First -- yes, it's really all about location, location, location. And for that, the Inn would get five thumbs up. If you want to stay IN Chapel Hill, instead of a highway hotel, this is really the only choice. But, you do pay the price for that location, both literally and figuratively. So, yeah, there might be a couple of... More

I stayed here one night on business at the university and was very pleased. Staff very friendly, hotel lobby open and airy and rooms small but well kept. Breakfast buffet is not to be missed. Hotel has eco-friendly policy which I appreciated.

This is a good hotel for the location. Most of the common areas are top notch and enjoyable, but the rooms seem a bit worn and tired. Maybe a little overpriced for the quality of the rooms.

Thanks for your kind complements and for your feedback on our traditional rooms. We are excited to announce that we will be renovating all remaining guest rooms that were not completed in Phase 1 starting later this year. We anticipate that by mid-2013 all of our guest rooms will have been completely renovated. In the meantime, thanks for staying with... More

Beautiful little hotel with all the southern charms. Pleasant and cheerful staff. Only stayed one night but would loved to have been there longer. At full rate, my expectations might have been a little higher but at the Priceline rate, this was a perfect experience.
