After a long day of getting to Cedar Island we were expecting a good meal and a good night's sleep at the Driftwood Motel. To our dismay, it is all closed down! The lady in the ferry booth held the ferry up for us, or we would have been stuck on the side of the road.

First off let me say it one more time...Thank you Lord for getting us out of there alive!!!! Upon arrival we had to call for someone to drive down to the motel so that we could check in. The woman that came was very friendly. I had noticed no one else around, anywhere. I asked the woman were my husband... More

I had honestly hoped to write a better review when I planned my family trip. Reading other reviews- I felt that they were not being fair as I had seen this hotel many years ago, but they were pretty accurate. I do think that part of the reason our stay might have been unpleasant, was that this is still their... More

Yeah its not sparkling and new and yeah for 80 Bucks you will get a lot more in the thousands of soulless hotel cities along the interstates, but its not at all fair to compare this place with that. This is for people missing the Ferry and for that its fine. Rooms are ild and moldy, sure, but there is... More

...and they know it. Not worth the $80 but you can see the ferry from your porch. Beds were comfortable & A.C. was cold, and loud. Our water was fine. We read the reviews here before booking so we were not expecting much. People were sweet.

We stayed September 2012 found out this was the only place to stay after hours of driving. I thought oh my "Bates Motel". I have to take that back because the people where so kind and warm. Talked about the history of this beautiful secluded place. Stayed in room with king size bed and it was comfortable. The room was... More

The Driftwood Motel is right out of a horror movie. We stayed on the way to the outerbanks - water smell made us gag, dirty and the lock on the door was iffy. We put a chair in front of the door. Didn't sleep - too scared. We were so happy to get out of there. Would trust the Bates... More

This place is dirty and in shambles. Bathroom tiles broken. Sinks look like they were never cleaned. Pillows are from the Dark Ages. Bed covers and curtains were dingy and stained. Floor was so bad I didn't walk around in bare feet. Same for bathroom, where I wore my flip-flops in the shower. It's right next to the ferry, which... More

worst place ever..they charged my credit card twice and I have left several messages for a call back and no one will call me back. It was dirty, the smell of the water made me sick, the curtains had stains all over them and the shower had clumps of hair in it. Only positive was the ferry.
