I have thought a long time about how to write this review. It is a place you really want to like. The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The rooms are absolutely filthy. Yes, the place is rustic with no AC. That is not a problem. Well...it wouldn't be a problem if we had not shared a porch with a... More

Thank you for expressing your view point. We do remember the difficulties you were having and are so sorry that things did not work out like we all would have liked. It would serve no good purpose to go through your letter item by item or how we reacted to every instance or content of every discussion but we will... More

Our family has been going to High Hampton over the last 28 years and simply enjoy every visit. The best part is that the ambience remains true to it's historical roots of 1922. It's a great place to take a hike in the mountains, play a round of golf, go canoeing or take a swim in the clear lake or... More

Oh my word, thank you. How rewarding for us to read posts such as yours. If we were challenged to write the end game on everyone’s visit you just wrote it for us. Thank you and we intend to continue the traditions, quality and mountain family experience you just described. Respectfully, Clifford Meads More

If you want to experience a resort that has been around for years and probably hasn't changed much, then this is nostalgic. The resort has no AC. We were in a cottage with a portable fan and ceiling fan and were comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the cottage was quaint. The buffet meals were great and had something for... More

Thank you for your note and it appeared that you took advantage of a lot of activities which we encourage our guests to do. Being outside and taking in the scenery and beauty around us certainly sets us apart from many other considerations. We do hope that you will return, relax and enjoy each other’s company in a location that... More

4th visit this time around, and the best yet. Very good food despite the buffet style in which it is served. Will definitely go back again. The lake is always FREEZING so I take a neoprene vest to swim in..

Thank you for your note. We were glad to see that you enjoyed our food and the variety of choices offered. Yes, our spring fed lake is clean and COLD. That is a large part of its charm. Thank you for your continued visits and we hope that we keep getting better for you. Respectfully, Clifford Meads More

I have been going to High Hampton for 50 years and now am sharing the magic with my Grandchildren , as my Mother did for me ! It is the most wonderful family vacation in the cool Mts of Cashier`s , NC. You can stay in a cabin around the lake , or rent a vacation home with view`s of... More

This is truly a beautiful place and we had a fun, family-oriented vacation. The golf course is beautiful, as are the grounds, with the background of the mountain looming over the lake. Great place for kids, lots of activities on the water and a lot of families. These were not our complaints. We were a big family on our first... More

Thank you for your letter and we are quite dismayed by some of your observations. We do take responsibility for any weaknesses that we have from time to time and appreciate you taking the time to write. There is not any good reason why housekeeping was not performing as they should. Times can vary depending on the ebb and flow... More

Pros: cottage was nicely laid out and in a beautiful setting on the golf course. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Good food in dining room, good selection and yummy desserts Property is stunning. Lots of activities, great hiking, golf, tennis, canoes, kids activities, spa Cons: Dirty cottage! Cobwebs and dead bugs on every wall. Dirty unswept floors with... More

Thank you for alerting us to your series of misfortunes. Those misfortunes are certainly now ours to correct and we will do so! You are correct that not every cottage has wifi (although most do). The more remote ones we are still seeking a remedy to getting a signal out to them. We are hopeful that you will call the... More

We did not stay at the hotel because we have friends that live in the area; however, we did eat the Thursday night dinner buffet. It was FABULOUS and I don't like buffets!!! It was very fresh and had a wide variety of items to choose from. They also had fresh cooked to order stir fry which was the best... More

We have been staying a the High Hampton Inn for many years and have never been disappointed. From the time that we drive up, we feel relaxed and rested. The ambience is rustic, and there are no phones or television in the rooms. However, staying there is extremely refeshing. There are buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are many... More

Thank you for taking the time to write and your continued visits. We also like our golf course for the very same reasons you mentioned. Not too long yet wonderful vistas around every corner. This was my first time staying at High Hampton Inn. My room was on the 2nd floor (Room 10...avoid at all costs). I hadn't realized it was by the stairwell and, when I tried to take an afternoon nap, it was impossible. Paper thin walls, footsteps by my head, footsteps over my head, and toilets flushing and the sound of... More

We are so very sorry to hear of your experience. Not knowing all the circumstances I am hopeful that if you had mentioned your dislike of the room location that we would have done everything possible to put you in a room further away from the stairwell or even in a cottage. We encourage you to contact the resort and... More
