The scenery is beautiful when you turn onto the property, but once you have checked in things look different. The staff (mostly management) seemed a little rude. The wait staff was great, but could use more training. I overheard members of management saying things to some of the wait staff that was rude and inappropriate on the dining room floor.... More

Thank you for the time you took to write. Candidly, we are somewhat puzzled by your notation that our management staff seemed a little rude. We very rarely hear that so therefore a bit of clarification would be helpful. We do take pride in being reactive and helpful and in this case if we were not - a call to... More

If you are looking for a place to get away, yet let someone else take care of the cooking, High Hampton Inn and Country Club is THE place. NO in room televisions, telephones, or air conditioners; just peace and quite with fantastic views of the mountains and lake. If you are a hiker of golfer, it is GREAT too. The... More

Thank you very much. Glad you got the peace and quiet you were seeking. Actually for clarification, coat and ties are only required for Friday and Saturday nights. The rest of the week is a shirt with a collar and a simple sports jacket. Also you are correct, room #40 is sweet. Thank you again, Respectfully, Clifford Meads More

Especially our room. No phone nor TV and no cell service. Had to use the phone on the activities desk. The walls are so thin that we could clearly hear conversation from the next room. Made us aware to keep our voices low. The screen door was noisy and banged when closed. Especially annoying when other guests entered or left... More

Thank you for the time you took to write and visit. Always disappointing when/if we read that one does not intend to return. Maybe, if we were not three days away as was stated we might get reconsidered. Yes we are simple in most areas and yes we do not have nor ever boast to have had TV’s or phones.... More

The High Hampton is an excellent place for a trip to the mountains. It boasts beautiful scenery and an abundance of activities. Many hiking trails, waterfalls, and lake activities are easy to find and/or are within a short drive away. This is a place that I cherish my time at and look forward to with great anticipation. I've been going... More

Thank you for your very in-depth review of our property. We encourage you to try us in the spring when the flowers are blooming, weather mild and not quite as much activity as the summer months. We hope to continue to improve and maybe we will hit your five-star benchmark very soon. Thank you again. Respectfully, Clifford Meads More

This was my first visit to the High Hampton and unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The location is absolutely beautiful and the grounds around the original inn are well kept. The lobby/common areas are well maintained and charming with roaring fires and lots of places to gather with family and friends. Beyond that, this place is a... More

Thank you for the time you took to write. We are saddened by your description of the property and your overall experience. We recognize that there are many areas that still need ongoing attention and blemishes to be addressed. This 116 room Inn on 1,400 acres has its hands full and we intend to improve everywhere - every day we... More

I've read a lot of varying reviews of this place and all I can say is every time I've stayed at the High Hampton, I left with a real sense family and the old ways. The grounds are superb, the staff attentive and the dining experience is one you will see nowhere else. Keeping it as traditional as possible is... More

Thank you. Yes, there have been mixed reviews over the years for many different reasons. We appreciate what you wrote and that High Hampton Inn is a place you find some solitude. Adhering to our traditions is sometimes tricky in this ever changing world however, we believe after 92 years of service that that adherence is an attraction all unto... More

We have stayed at High Hampton a few times. The setting is beautiful and the rustic family atmosphere very nice as well. The buffet is adequate. Gets the job done. Not as good this visit as times past. And yes they could definately do a better job cleaning the rooms. The beds are very comfy! Upon arrival we were assigned... More

Thank you for the time you took to write. Remember what family resorts used to be? High Hampton Inn captures that hospitality and rustic elegance with cabins, porches, trails, delicious meals, and friendly staff. Families and couples share the delight of the mountain air and the many activities. Spectacular is word to describe the beautiful gardens especially the Dahlia garden. Don't miss it. Thank you for your kind remarks. Yes, indeed a lot of our staff represents a dozen different countries, cultures and experiences. I have thought a long time about how to write this review. It is a place you really want to like. The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The rooms are absolutely filthy.
