We were down March 20 - 21 for fishing and shelling before the point had any closings. We had booked an efficiency but were upgraded to a suite. We had never stayed in one of the suites before, but we would consider booking one now. It was very convenient and comfortable. As usual, everyone was very friendly and they recognized... More

My wife and I travel allot and usually have pretty much the same opinion of places, but that was not the case here. This motel is like a step back in time, it reminded me of SO many small family owned and run motels that existed before the chains came in. It is like a step back into the 70's... More

The ferry to our rental in Ocracoke was cancelled due to bad weather, and we stumbled across this motel while searching for a place to sleep for the night. It was the first place we found that was open late at night during the off-season, and we were pleasantly surprised! The man behind the counter was friendly and helpful (even... More

We're glad we could help turn around a potentially crummy night, Connie. We bet it was stressful to have your plans thrown out of whack because of the weather, and we're glad we could be friendly faces in the storm. There's not much better than to hear you felt welcomed as our guest. Hope to see you in the future,... More

Great Winter Deal! The room was nicely decorated and comfortable (I had a non-pet room). Loved the convenience of the fridge and microwave (Off season there are not as many restaurants available for meals). Hotel staff was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the area. Will definitely stay again.

This is the best experience I've ever had traveling with our dog ... the room was spacious, management very friendly, and there is a fenced-in back yard for dogs. The reasonable pet fee is much appreciated! We stayed for a short winter trip and had a quiet, cozy stay.

Thanks for the review, Sarah! The "best experience I've ever had traveling with our dog" is one of the best compliments we could think of! I'm glad you found our rooms spacious, the management friendly, and the pet fee reasonable. I hope you and your pup had a great time exploring the Outer Banks! There are a lot of really... More

The manager was very friendly. He offered suggestions on where to eat and where to fish. He also offered to freeze any fish we caught to take home and offered to let us use his grill to cook fish. We booked an efficiency in case we wanted to cook in the room. It was tiny and, in my opinion, overpriced.... More

We were back down in Buxton for a few days at the end of Sept./ beginning of October. It felt like being home again while we were there. The bathroom had been redone since the last time we stayed in that particular room. It is the little extras that make this place so great, like the large freezer for guests... More

We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, Rachel. Reviews like this mean more to us than you know. We put a lot of effort into the "little extras" to make the place feel like home and it's great that you noticed. We'd love to see you back -- the fishing and shelling beaches are up and running! Hope... More

A nice quiet place, very clean and cheerfully dog friendly. AC a little noisey, Small bathroom but clean- we were not expecting a spa. My husband and I stayed for several days last week at the Cape Pines Motel. It was our first travel experience with a dog, and it was absolutely fantastic. The hotel room was modest, but it was clean and perfectly comfortable - there was a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee pot in the room. The dog facilities were... More
