We recently stayed one night in Bryson City at the Historic Calhoun Hotel on our way to the east coast. Bryson City is a great little town right by Great Smoky Mt. National Park and the Calhoun House Hotel was a wonderful place! Like a step back to the best parts of the era of this hotel, we were warmly... More

We stayed at the Historic Calhoun for 2 nights. The location is great for being able to walk to restaurants such as The Cork and Bean & Pasqualino's....which were both highly recommended, and check out the local music at The Nantahala Brewing Company. The Calhoun itself is a delight...would have loved to have met Luke but he was out of... More

Entering the Calhoun, there's a good chance you will receive a warm welcome from Luke Hyde. The Calhoun has the best front porch ~ comfortable chairs, close to restaurants (especially Soda Pop's!). Rooms are comfortable and very, very clean. Breakfast is delicious! Great parking, very convenient location.....

Wanting to stay within walking distance of the town, I chose Calhoun Hotel for its location. The rooms were wonderfully decorated. The bathroom was small but adequate. We were more than impressed with the ongoing restoration but even more so, with its owner Luke. He is a walking history book of the area, we were very fortunate to have time... More

My wife and I needed a couple of days away from work and decided a little fall color relaxing was in order. So we headed to Bryson City, NC to ride the train and do some other scenic drives. We stayed in the Calhoun Hotel which is in the heart of Bryson City. So perfect for walking to the different... More

My husband and I stayed at the Historic Calhoun House Hotel while visiting the mountains of N.C. The hotel has a wonderful history and the hosts were amazing historians, with a wealth of knowledge about the area. Our hosts were very service-oriented and made sure we had whatever we needed to be comfortable and have an enjoyable stay. The hotel... More

Wonderful experience and the hosts made the stay such a memorable experience for my daughter and I. We were given the choice of a different room - the owners suggested my daughter might enjoy the third floor and they were right. The a/c cooled down quickly in the new room. It was an adventure to explore the house and Bryson... More

We stayed one night and we were pleased with the hotel in general. There are only window air conditioners and our room took a LONG time to cool down. They didn't turn it on until we arrived (maybe call ahead and ask if they can get it started). It was fun to explore the whole hotel and learn the history.... More

We stayed 2 nights in the Historic Calhoun House Hotel. The hotel is lovely inside with antiques, but very clean and comfortable. The owners welcome you with warmth and gentility. The morning light breakfast is served by the owners and includes delicious homemade food. It is in the heart of charming Bryson City, where you can enjoy walking the street... More

Great ambience, great breakfasts, and a wonderful host. I look forward to staying there again. We absolutely loved it. What a treasure. Sit on the porch in a rocking chair and watch the world go by or walk a block and ride the train. Many good restaurants nearby. I deli next door and an ice cream shop on the other... More
