My husband and I decided in the last moment that we would go to Bryson City to ride the Train on Veterans Day weekend. Gunny showed us a great time. He is a fellow Veteran and enjoys his model airplanes which Jeff and I found really cool. He offered us a nice cabin. It was a quiet and tranquil place... More

My wife and two teenage sons enjoyed camping at Kirkland Creek. When we arrived, we found out that part of our tent supplies had fallen out of our car topper. Gunny and Darlene, as well as two of the regulars who have campers there were soooo helpful and kind. Later, our car battery died, and Gunny loaned us all his... More

I see all these great reviews and I just don't get it. The on-line presentation makes this campground look great but it really is just an open field up in the hills. Yes, it is quirky in that it has some farm animals which roam freely but there is a dog named Cashmere that has the run of the place.... More

Stayed one night and tent camped. If your a person that doesn't like taking family around drinking this place would not be for you, if you like to drink and mingle and let the kids run loose this would appeal to you. Gunny a medically retired Marine will try to make your stay fun and enjoyable with what he is... More

We stayed for 2 nights in site number 6. It's right on the creek, and the water rushing down the hill is very relaxing. On the drive up, I realized I forgot the most important part of camping... SMORES. But, luckily Gunny had a Kirkland Creek Smores Kit ready and waiting for purchase by a camper (not to mention many... More

the website masks many many issues of cleanliness and maintenance problems kirkland creek campground was experiencing during our stay. the first red flag was when my son-in-law attempted to check us in! he started to enter the "office" and was promptly told to "stand fast, i'm on the phone!" by the owner, 'gunny'. we should have turned and RAN at... This is our second year at Kirkland Creek. We are again in Cabin 1. Today, the kids caught 4 trout in the trout pond. Now they're playing in the pool. Later we're hiking to the falls. Tonight, trout on the campfire. Tomorrow, Bryson City and tubing. Could you ask for more? Oh yeah. There's a creek here to play in,... More

Let me first say that I am not big on camping - I do it for my husband & our children. This was our first stay at Kirklands. Kirklands Creek Campground was great. It was wonderful family time spent with our kids without them on their electronics, ie Ipads, telephones, & 3DS. Our site was on the creek, which is... More

I must say that Kirkland Creek was AMAZING!!! From the time we arrived, till the day we left(sigh) we were treated like family! Anything that we needed, we got. My kids had never vacationed in a cabin, and had the time of their lives. All the attractions we wanted to visit were minutes away. Gunny, Miss Darlene, and their staff... More
