This campground is 30 min. From the nantahala river.which is the reason we came to n.c.this place is a little further out from most camping and hotel places which I loved away from a lot of people. Gunny was the best. He made us feel welcome.he had everything we needed like restrooms, showers, wood, ice. Except food but a grocery store was 10... More

We stayed 3 days and 2 nights, and we couldn't be happier with our stay. The only sound we heard after 11 pm was the frogs and crickets, which for July 4th weekend was amazing. This place isn't the Hilton, but isn't claiming to be. If you want quiet, country style camping, this is the campground in the Bryson City... More

Myself, two children, husband, father and grandmother didn't the weekend in Bryson City. We all fit comfortably into cabin #1. The scenery is gorgeous. The fishing superb. We loved the owner so nice and friendly! I would stay here a million times over! Would choose this over a hotel any day!! It was awesome!

Our family (husband, wife, and two boys) was looking for an affordable weeklong getaway in the North Carolina mountains this summer. We were considering tent camping, then found this campground tucked away in Bryson City. For slightly more than the price of a tent campsite, we were able to rent one of Kirkland Creek's cozy cabins. We got exactly what... More

We loved our stay at Kirkland Creek Campground. We stayed in Cabin #1. It is a small 1 bedroon 1 bathroom cabin. This cabin has a nice long front porch for relaxing, also had a fire ring right off of the porch. Very clean and right on the trout pound. Just the right size for the two of us. We... More

My daughter & I was looking to get away on a whim to the Great Smokey Mountains when I stumbled across the website for Kirkland Creek. We arrived late at night to find Gunny, the owner of the campground waiting on us to help us get set up. He is a very kind military vetran, that had his side-kick Cashmere... More

My husband and I decided in the last moment that we would go to Bryson City to ride the Train on Veterans Day weekend. Gunny showed us a great time. He is a fellow Veteran and enjoys his model airplanes which Jeff and I found really cool. He offered us a nice cabin. It was a quiet and tranquil place... More

My wife and two teenage sons enjoyed camping at Kirkland Creek. When we arrived, we found out that part of our tent supplies had fallen out of our car topper. Gunny and Darlene, as well as two of the regulars who have campers there were soooo helpful and kind. Later, our car battery died, and Gunny loaned us all his... More

I see all these great reviews and I just don't get it. The on-line presentation makes this campground look great but it really is just an open field up in the hills. Yes, it is quirky in that it has some farm animals which roam freely but there is a dog named Cashmere that has the run of the place.... More

Stayed one night and tent camped. If your a person that doesn't like taking family around drinking this place would not be for you, if you like to drink and mingle and let the kids run loose this would appeal to you. Gunny a medically retired Marine will try to make your stay fun and enjoyable with what he is... More
