My wife and I visited Flintlock for one night just to get away from the norm. We ended up in cabin 1 which was arranged by a very nice employee named Sam. All I can say is !!!WOW!!! The cabin is basically brand new and spotless and smells of cedar :) and is a dream spot. We can't wait to... More

A buddy and myself recently traveled to the Boone, NC area to do a little fishing and I made confirmed reservations at the Flintlock Campground. Although this campground has some nice qualities such as a playground for children, I must admit that it was a mistake for us to spend our money at this location. Traffic is very loud with... More

Very close to downtown. Level campsites, many permanent. Very little in the camp store, but nice staff. Lots of campsites are on the talkative stream. Cute little cabins are available. Close to all the things someone goes to the mountains for; the Blue Ridge Parkway with its gorgeous vistas and great hiking trails, plus shopping and restaurants.

Our 2 young sons and their friend really enjoyed playing in the creek. The adults really enjoyed listen to the sound of the creek as it was very peaceful. The other campers in the campground got a little loud at night, but the location was great, the people that worked there seemed to care. I would consider it a very... More

I wanted a place to stay near Grandfather Mountain so I could attend the Highland Games. This little cabin was much better than I expected. Very cozy and clean inside. Had one full bed and two bunk beds, ceiling fan, and plenty of electrical outlets. Toilets and bathing facilities are in the bath house not far from the cabins. I... More

Convient campground to boone and grandfather area. We stayed at flintlock for a weekend in the mountains. Campground was full and sites are about 40x20 size so we felt like we were spending the weekend in a trailer park vs a mountain campground. Lots of permanent sites. Looked like just a few sites available for travelers. Stream was pretty and... More

My husband and I took a road trip at the end of June to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary (June 23, 1973). The hospitality extended from the initial phone reservation to our arrival was outstanding, reminiscent of visiting old friends. The site we had reserved (after reading other reviews on this website) was great but an even more picturesque setting,... More

Wonderful campground nestled right along the river side. We camped in site 26 which was directly across from the bath house....plus! Convenient locations, nice play area, bluegrass music at the pavilion on Saturday was wonderful. Will definitely stay again if I am in the area. Bathhouse was older but hey, you're camping!
