My family and I wanted to do something different for Thanksgiving, so we drove two hours to eat at Crippens in Blowing Rock ($40/person). We had done our homework and most reviews were excellent. My parents had a memorable meal there a couple of years ago and this menu was intriguing. Seemed like a sure bet - right?. Nope. Huge... more

My husband and I recently celebrated 30 years of marriage with a special meal at Crippen's in Blowing Rock. Executive Chef Douglas Riess and Server/Sommelier Sharon Walker prepared a perfect five course dinner that will be difficult to match in the next 30 years. Make sure you arrive in time to sample a couple of Crippen's special cocktails and stay... more

The room we were given was supposedly a complimentary upgrade to Room 2. The heat did not work properly and there was no heat all night long. No down blanket either. The temp got down into the 40's. Next morning, we were asked if we had called Jimmy. It was way too cold to get up and call Jimmy in... more

The room we were given was large, but pretty plain and sterile. The bathroom was functional and very small, but worst of all was that the heating had been turned off. We asked for it to be turned on and then things were fine. However, some time, during the night the heating was truned off again, which made for a... more

We stayed at Crippens for our 10th anniversary. When we first arrived, Jimmy instantly upgraded us to the nicest room in the inn for no extra charge. While we were there, we were treated like family from the moment we woke up until we went to bed. We decided after walking around town looking at menus of other restaurants that... more

The dinner was wonderful and the dishes were so original. We ate on the front porch. It was lovely. You must try the chocolate steak! Our room overlooked Sunset Drive which was fun. The downside was hearing the phone ring so many times and hearing the staff still moving around and talking at 1 am. more

My wife and I have stayed @ Crippen's Country Inn every year since 2002, and can't wait to go back this year. We go in October, when the air is crisp and the foliage radiant. We have been treated like family since our first visit. The entire staff is friendly, and the restaurant is unsurpassed. The B&B and the Village... more

We just got back from staying at Crippen's and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The rates were low and with what all you get it is worth it. The complimentary wine & cheese in the afternoon is nice. The dinner in the dining room was wonderful. The breakfast, which is free, was awesome. The... more
