Camping in the High Country! I love it! but this campground, like most federal campgrounds along the BRParkway, suffers from severe neglect. Erosion is rampant, and most tent pads flood when it rains since they are not elevated anymore. Our picnic table was covered with moss and had a chunk of concrete out, and our firepit was literally FULL of... More

We had a great campsite on Loop A (lakeside). Wonderful views. Beautiful wooded lot, spacious, with good size tent pad and a concrete picnic table. The hike round the lake is very pretty and worth taking the time out to do. Views from the bridge at sunset are fabulous. Canoe and kayak rentals were a little pricey. The campsite is... More

To be fair, I am not an experienced camper, so I don't have much to compare this to. It was a nice enough place and we had a good time, but I guess I was expecting more privacy than what we had. The campsites (we were on B loop) were quite close together and right off a road. Each site... More

This campground was beyond my expectations. Each campsite that you rent is spacious, creating your own little world. The people surrounding us were friendly and it made it a very positive experience. There are pink crowned azaleas lacing the entire campgrounds and trails. There were white tailed deer and fireflies everywhere. The stars at night above the lake were unbelievable.... More

This campground is in MAJOR need of repair. Camped in the A loop (lakeside) rubbing elbows with the neighbors, we had one of the less private sites. There is one restroom on that side which was down to one toilet and two sinks that functioned. Half of the site's picnic table was broken off and the tent pads were in... More

This is a nice National Park Service campground. Limited funding for the National Park Service means that the amenities are limited, but you can't beat the location along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are no hookups (electric, water, sewer) at the individual sites, but there are restrooms with flush toilets (which we did not use because we have a trailer).... More

1.Although we booked the last site online, but there're walk in sites available, I was told on the phone there will always sites left for walk ins, however, this past Sat, Oct 18th, peak season to view fall color, we arrived there around 2pm, and there're only a few left. online booking is $19 and walk ins is $16. 2.... Pros: Great location on the parkway Our campsite was quiet and private. The campground itself was not crowded and was quiet The ranger at check-in was polite and helpful The campground is very clean Cons: No showers Bathrooms were not lighted, had no paper towels, the doors were left open and there were campsites extremely close No hot water The... Having spent a considerable amount of time in our North Carolina state parks, I expected the same caliber of professionalism and cleanliness from this federal park on the Blue Ridge Parkway. While I was satisfied with my visit, the facility has much to be desired. We stayed on site A10 - which has an amazing view of, and access to,... More

Have been camping here for the last 20 years. Every year it gets worse and worse. This year we stayed here in our motorhome. The trees were so low in E and F loop, I had to stop and get out my ladder and pruning shears to cut branches just to get in the campground. I was warned at check... More
