I have stayed at the Monte many times over the past 20 years and love the relaxed, older hotel experience. The hotel is under new management for the pat several years and has seen vast improvements and updates to rooms and dining room. Most of the time we request a room on the top floor with the old tile and... More

Perfect place for a romantic weekend! The owners pay great attention to the details. The walls of the inn are covered with exciting artwork, and the bar is beautiful. Valentine's dinner was incredible. We had the lobster and steak with appetizers and dessert. In addition, we ordered the most delicious bottle of wine. Of course, Black Mountain is the perfect town... More

Love the historic place with eclectic local art... Food was fresh, delish, creative. great space in dining room as well as a fabulous courtyard to relax and drink a glass of wine. Easy to walk to great shops in the town, and short drive into Asheville.

We stayed just one night but wish we had stayed longer. The hotel has been updated but has not lost its historical charm. We were there just before New Years and there were not many guests so the restaurant and bar were not open but they looked wonderful as well. This is a nice cross between a B&B and small... More

Very cute and well kept historic hotel. The staff was very friendly and personable. Very close to Asheville NC. There was a restaurant/tap room downstairs that seemed nice although we did not have an opportunity to visit it.

What a lovely job they have done with remodeling this old hotel. The common areas were comfy and cozy. We sat by a fire pit with an after dinner drink. The dining room and all the sitting areas are so inviting. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Very spacious. Easy walking distance to most everything in town.

Was invited to hear the performance in the main foyer. Loved that the tables were set up for dining and LOVED the turkey sandwich! Singer was terrific and gave the very appreciative crowd a great show. Found out the owner was from my home town which made it even more homey. Highly recommend - especially on singing nights!

Our first time staying at the Monte Vista and it certainly will not be our last. Barney and Sue were wonder attentive host. The staff were friendly and engaging. The food was divine. Sue keeps a very nice wine selection for guests. Besides being able to sit on the porches and see the mountains it is a very short walk... More
