This review is on the fly fishing experience we had - not a stay in the resort. I could not find anything for Hungry Trout Fly Fishing - however is part of the resort. So, we were geared up in waders, boots and equipment, ready for our adventure to begin on the Ausable river in hope of making a catch.... More

We chose this location as our accommodation to complement a 3 day ski trip to Whiteface Mountain. The proximity to the mountain is very good - it takes less than 3 minutes to drive to the base lodge. We stayed in the "deluxe" rooms, one that had a recent renovation to the bathroom. It was a modest 90 dollars plus... More

We drove up from Toronto for a weekend ski trip @ Whiteface Mountain and were very pleased with every aspect of out stay. The rooms, dining, and location blew away all of our expectations. Jerry and his staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and did a great job during our stay. The food in the dining room restaurant was very... More

We stayed in a renovated room for I believe $10 extra. This is well worth the extra money cause it is clean and functional. The beds are very comfy; maybe they are the same for all rooms. Very quiet, and nice view of the White Face Mtn in the bay window. The food is a little expensive, not unlike other... More

We stayed two nights as part of a weekend package with the Santa's Workshop attraction. With the package you got two nights accommodations at the Hungry Trout with Dinner Friday and Saturday night and Breakfast Saturday and Sunday. Also, Santa's Workshop had set up entertainment for the kids each night. When we arrived Friday afternoon precipitation had just started but... More

The day this wonderful man arrived at our facility, a major ice storm hit our community that lasted three days and nights. It devastating trees, roads, power lines and, of course, driveways and sidewalks. It was the worst weather event here in two decades. This facility spent $2,000 in plowing and sanding fees in three days trying to keep up... More

My husband and I celebrated our 6th anniversary at The Hungry Trout in Oct 2013. I wish we would have gone a bit earlier in the month when it was NOT snowing, but we managed to have a great time anyway. We forgot my fly reel and Evan at the (closed but open for us) fly shop was kind enough... More

Cozy rooms and wonderful dining experiences await you at the Hungry Trout. Our room was comfortable and afforded us a beautiful view of the mountains. The restaurant has excellent food. Our steaks were done perfectly! The soups are very tasty. We have stayed there before and will stay there again.

Our group of 7 walked in on a saturday night, no reservations, and were immediately seated in the large dining room with a great view of the river. The dinners ranged from pan fried trout, prime rib, pork chops and grilled trout. No one had any complaints. the food was hot and the service was excellent. I would recommend this... More

This a review of the main restaurant only. I found the food to be wanting. 2 people in our party had steaks that were tough. One came out undercooked and was sent back. Soups were excellent. Everything else was middle of the road. For the price, I would say it's not worth the money anymore.

If you are looking for a nice place to stay while stalking trout, this is it. Very nice rooms and really comfortable. Fly shop and restaruant on site. Good fly fishing directly behind the property. We stayed in a double queen room with the family, me the wife and 2 boys and it was fine. The bathroom was very upscale.... More
