We stayed here for two nights in early April. It is a great location for exploring the area and the accommodation couldn't be nicer. Your hosts, John and Lee, are fantastic. We stayed in the "guest wing" which is attached to the main house but really a suite with a large bedroom with King bed, small living room, 2 decks... More

Ah Chris - we appreciate your comments very much. It was a pleasure to share company with you both. Do consider emigrating from Vancouver now that you know our special country, but know that you will be welcome here again any time. You are right - it can be dark at night but have you seen stars and the night... More

Welcoming, generous hosts who are very knowledgeable about the area & cook great breakfasts! Its a great location from which to explore the Mercury Bay area. We arrived as guests but felt like friends when we left.

Lee and John are the best hosts you could hope for, always helpful, never in your way. Their property was built as a B&B and works very well. We like the Garden room best, more space the the others. Very well located for visiting Cooks Beach, Whitianga, and the wonderful beaches of the Coromandel Peninsula. Creative breakfasts

We started our tour around the north island at the Flaxhaven and everyplace we went after paled in comparison. So quite and relaxed, I have thought about this place every day since we left. I loved all the fruit trees and flowers. The landscaping and the garden was immaculate. The lodge is in a perfect place, just a short walk... More

Lee and John, please take a bow.....wonderful hostess/host. We were made so welcome, lots of information to the local attractions....recommended local restaurants. Even made reservations for us when required. This place was recommended to us by our son and wife on their honeymoon, all the way from the UK. Breakfast is different from day to day...freshly cut fruit salad, muffin,cereals,yoghurt,bacon... More

After touring for a month on both south and north islands and staying in 17 hotels/bed and breakfasts along the way, without a doubt, our stay at Flaxhaven Lodge was the best accomodation we had. It was exactly what we needed - so relaxing, comfortable bed, terrific breakfasts, gorgeous gardens and amazing hosts - Lee and John. This couple could... More

Superb accommodation with our own lounge and two patio areas for both the morning and evening sun. Lovely touches like nightlights so you could find your way at night to the bathroom.
