We have never left reviews before have just returned from a two week holiday in NZ and were so impressed that we felt compelled to share reviews of our favorite spots. We had a wonderful time at 970 Lonely Bay. Our room (and the entire house) was stunning, with a big balcony, high ceilings and a fresh sea breeze. Our... More

Our US travel agent working with local partners had us stay in three separate small lodges all of which were five star quality. 970 Lonely Bay was our third and is a lovely building and the rooms are large with a full range of amenities including complementary wine, beverages and snacks. The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful... More

Lonely Bay was the first stop on our NZ tour and it was BRILLIANT. Kim was a superb hostess as she provided all the information and help you would need. Lonely Bay is also a place where you can relax rather than go visiting the local sights - we stayed in the Honeymoon Suite on the top floor which is... More

The lonely bay hotel is first class. Nothing too much trouble. Kim was extremely coming and informative. The room was beautiful and on par to our expectations against what we paid. Breakfast was superb. The location is lovely. We so wanted to sit on the beach but the sun didn't shine for us, but great location to beach if it... More

Bravo Kym, you made our stay simply memorable and very special thanks to your caring style. We love Estuary room with its extra views, terraces and bedroom. The whole lodge and experience is a delight. Love the flexibility of eating in the lodge and the food is good and healthy. The option of dining at "Go Vino" is also superb,... More

Casual, relaxed, comfortable, spacious, quiet, great breakfasts, accessible to beaches and walks, are a few of the words that spring to mind when considering the three days, including Christmas day, that we spent at 970 Lonely Bay. Nothing was too much trouble for Kym and we enjoyed a bonus of Christmas lunch with superb food and wine and an international... More

From the moment you arrive Kym takes care of everything. The rooms are big and airy with all the facilities you need. A great location to explore the area. Would highly recommend to anyone. Will return next year.

Kym looked after us magnificently from the moment we arrived. Very personal service with care and attention. Lovely residence. Highly recommend everything about it. Beautiful bedroom and bathroom but did need blinds on the Velux Windows! Breakfast was a feast. Go. Enjoy!

Thank you Tony. It was absolutely a pleasure to host your group. Fantastic to see friends unite unexpectedly. After considering your suggestion we are investigating blinds for the Purangi Suite. This way guests can decide whether or not to enjoy the stars. We hope to see you for another visit in the future. I really appreciate you taking the time... More

Stayed 3 nights in the Estuary Suite in mid-November. Our host, Kym, was very friendly and helpful and had lots of useful local knowledge to pass on. She also cooked our delicious breakfasts. The Estuary Suite is on the first floor overlooking the sea. Comfortably and extensively furnished, the rooms provided all that you could expect from 5* accommodation. Light... More

What a wonderful and kind review, and yes, thankfully I'm feeling much better! Its unfortunate I was unable to see you off. As you've mentioned I have extensive local knowledge that I love to share. There truly are some beautiful sights (and restaurants) in such close proximety to the Lodge. I certainly recommend my favourite local restuarant 'Go Vino' to... More
