Old, rough and shoddy. Some parts of the cabin had never been cleaned, the pull cord for the bed light, looked like 'beef jerky' and everything looked like it had come from a second hand shop, sheets (cost extra), mugs, glasses, cutlery etc. is all different and all past there use by date. The common toilets had no soap or... More

we had a South African guy, a chef, stay in the cabin, he used to dry this beef jerky because it was such a sunny cabin, maybe he just strung a slice up to the ceiling light above his bed because he liked to snack at night or was too lazy to get out of bed to turn the light... More

Management, I think it's time that you really sit and take a good look at the reviews received on TripAdvisor. It's not a case of a few disgruntled customers expressing a personal vendetta, there is a consistent trend that people that visit your campsite rate it as a terrible experience. I think it is time to upgrade the facilities and... More

You are correct that the past reviews are not good Mrs Majstorovic, though to be fair the most recent one in August from Danni was a personal vendetta, as you put it. She had been dumped by her boyfriend, the guy in the skyline and her stay with us and her comments were more about him than our campground, you... More

We stayed at this campsite in the so called cottages the entire experience was disgusting everything was filthy we could not check in after 8 pm as the owner is rude and arrogant. There was a guy working there that hit in all of us there and made everyone feel very uncomfortable a complete sleaze bag and we were woken... More

I regret not picking up on Dannis review earlier. What a load of codswallop Danni She is like the town drunk who has been infatuated with one of our staff, would call and hassle him during work hours here and I banned her from our campground. She made a booking in a group, not using her name, got hammered all... More

Overall this was average for us but more than adequate for one night especially given the fact that we didn't spend alot of time here. The cabin was fairly old and abit musty but the price reflects the value for money. Plenty of room for parking and we enjoyed a nice quiet stay. We took our key from the lockbox and... More

Went away with some friends and booked this place as was rather cheap. Was a long weekend and short notice. The manager was very helpful . The place could do with a good clean and spruce up . Kinda what you expect from a camp ground . You get what you pay for .

No way as bad as some reviews make it out to be. The cabins did have a slight mouldy smell and yes we did find and kill a cockroach, however apart from that, we did not have any other issues. This is a campground after all. Seems like people don't understand that fact. Friendly owner, even let us pick the... More

Stayed here a couple of nights at the start of our New Zealand tour, although not modern it had all we required for our stay. Others seem to have had issues with management, we had no such problems. If you want posh then this not for you, if you want a campsite in a good location give it a try.

This was a bad experience from the start. The manager has no people skills at all and it was my fault he didn't have my name even though I had been emailing him with my details to book the cabin. We did choose to upgrade our cabin to a self contained one for $110 per night. Not sure if that... More

Disgusting cabins that stink of damp- even our two boys said it was the worst place ever. We politely requested a refund of the additional charges saying our boys asthma would not cope with any damp- $40 extra for linen, $48 for 2 extra children (on top of our $140 booking fee). Owner is incredibly rude and has no people... More

Having booked three nights accommodation in a cabin for $310, I would NEVER recommend anyone stays at Whitianga Campground. The owner is rude, has no idea who he has booked in, or in what cabin they are booked. To add insult to injury, he has absolutely NO manners or idea of the meaning of "customer service". Sadly, this campground has... More
