We stayed in a Caroline Thomson cabin which was quite adequate for the two of us and reasonably priced for an overnight stay. It is set in a pleasant bush setting with a small accessible beach just two minutes walk away. The cabin was cleaned daily but could do with a good spring clean such as under beds, skirting boards... Over the last 3 decades (to be precise 38 years) I have traveled to Rottnest Island frequently. It is simply great. I used to live/work at the old tearooms (now gone), then the hotel, then the old teacher's shack doing general duties, then the light-keepers house - I still regularly go back to RI for holidays - and now I... We stayed in a south Thompson premium cottage, it was pretty old and dingy, the floors were not clean (my crawling son was dirty within moments of him going on the ground), rooms were big enough and bedrooms have a fan which was great for summer. Kitchen is well equipped. It is what it is, and you are paying for... More

Our (semi) regular trip to Rotto and things continue to get betterer and betterer. Outstanding mention this time must go to Programmed who are doing an excellent job with their FM contract - twice we had to ask for some work and twice it was done promptly by polite smiling helpful people - great job guys and far in excess... Most of theses reviews say the same thing.... I have just returned after a weekend away with 9 friends. The floor was dirty, my feet were filthy. Fly screens were missing. There was a pile of bricks around the place. One roll of toilet paper for 9 people and no soap. I love Rottnest, but for 300 dollars plus a... More

Really chilled accommodation with easy access to all parts of Rottnest Island. Beach (Geordie Bay) is really nice and safe. General Store is right around the corner. Would recommend for a small family or a group of friends looking for nice accommodation.

Rottnest has a range of Accomadation - the cheapest being the best value for money- tent land, tent land huts and Kingston barracks (hostel style) . The various bungalows are fun but can be very expensive- Perth locals look to Bali for a cheap holiday rather than Rottnest. The Lodge is barely 3 stars- no luxury lodgings on this island.... More

I suppose it might be okay for campers and backpackers, but if you are looking for a anything nicer than fast food or for a beach with umbrellas and beach chairs, it doesn't exist here. The accommodations and amenities are rustic, at best. With some investment, this could be a wonderful destination. We were disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback Rebecca. I am not quite sure which accommodation type you stayed in but they do vary quite considerable. Our Ocean View villas are much better equipped than other types so please feel free to ask about amenities another time. Additional amenities are being gradually introduced across the board within the accommodation but the current approach... More

Wow, just spent a week camping at Rottnest. This is a gem. The Rottnest Island authority has priced camping to be accessible to families. Imagine staying 50 metres from the beach effectively in the dunes under large pine trees with hot showers to boot at a price that will amaze you. Lazy days snorkelling coral outcrops at Parker Point, or... More

What a beautiful island Rottenest is. It is defiantly worth going there- unfortunately I found the service from Rottnest Island Authority to be very low. We where advised they would bring our bags from the ferry to our room. Unfortunately they did not- instead they left our belongings in a open area where anyone had access to it. Very disappointed... Thank you for your feedback, we will pass this on and clarify this with staff. Some of the accommodation (Governor Circle, Campgrounds, 700s and Barracks) do have luggage bays so may be left in a more open area? Otherwise the luggage should be left roadside near your accommodation gate, we do apologise that this was not communicated at the time... More
