Stayed for a few nights as we were passing through to Exmouth. Rooms are simple but comfortable. Beds were great and we slept really well after a day in the car. The food in the restaurant was excellent and both night had an amazing live musician playing. Apparently he is there five nights a weeks and really sets the mood.... More

By Carnarvon standards the Gateway is probably ok. The trouble is that these motels, and they are dotted all over Western Australia, is that they are very dated, and are always busy so they don't get regular makeovers, but they are functional. At the Gateway, the room was basic, the free WiFi non-existent in the room. But, the bed was... More

This motel was filthy. The fan in the toilet and shower were not only extremely noisy but almost black, they were disgusting. Come on people, a clean of the covers now and then is not rocket science. The air conditioner/heater in the room was that loud you could not carry on a conversation. It too was filthy. The walls and... More

I had to spend three weeks at this place and it seemed ages. It is far from the city center, which is not much anyway, it has old furniture, old and ugly bathroom and insects inside. The staff was friendly but the place really needs improvements.

Stayed two separate nights here one week apart. The first night got a great bed (unit 13) and we were happy to get a good night's sleep and have a good shower. Hence we came back the next time we passed through. The second night we had a terrible bed (unit 9) - it was like trying to sleep in... More

Friendly staff, helped us with everything we asked for. Helped us look into getting a bus home and let us stay in our rooms without extra charge on our last day. We had to get everything through insurance and they had the time and patience to help us out. We had the buffet dinner and it was okay. It was... More

We have dined at the buffet at Gateways several times, each time quite average. The recent seafood buffet dining experience was very average at a premium price ($40/head) Considering Carnarvon is a fishing location would expect the freshest and tastiest meals but this did not deliver, suggest elsewhere.

We arrived in Carnarvon my eldest son and I to visit my youngest for a short 3 day break and catchup , due to the arrival our room had been given away to a guest that checked in earlier. After much deliberation from the receptionist , she firstly offered a room with a queen bed to which my son replied... More

We stayed over a few days Its a typical country motel. Room wasn't to bad, good nights sleep! Wonderful food buffet and the breakfast was great also. Give it a chance. You're all probably snobby city slickers expecting 5 star in Carnarvon, be realistic! The pool was fantastic to. Wish we could have stayed longer until the mango tree near... More
