Well, what a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be. The house dates from the late 1800s and is tastefully decorated throughout. Walking in feels like stepping back in time! Each bedroom is different but all are clean and well appointed. We had a very peaceful stay and were looked after well. Breakfast is served in the neighbouring barn/shop... More

Dear Alan, Thank you for staying with us, and your wonderful comments. We do have wifi which is generated from the reception area. The signal does not seem very strong, but it is receivable in the barn and surrounding area. As you may know we have rooms in Ford House where you stayed which have a shared bathroom, and we... More

Ford House was built at the end of the 19th Century and is in the colonial style. Each bedoom has different facilities (see their website for details) but are all decorated & furnished in an exceptionally tasteful early 20th century style. There is a well equipped kitchen & dining room as well as a very comfortable sitting room. The house... More

We never thought any accommodation in Australia could be that bad! How bad? Think of cold showers for two seniors when the temperature is 14.6 degrees Celsius, because the staff did not switch on the water heater. The premises had no phone, no internet and after 17:30 no staff. We're left to search the exterior of the house in dim... More

sorry your experience was so bad. We are stunned to find your experience here was so difficult and when so many have enjoyed it. Normally the staff switch on the hot water as soon as people are booked in. I have reinforced the system to them... I was certainly not notified as I would have offered you some compensation. There... More

My husband booked this hotel thinking it sounded very romantic and on paper it is. We were surprised to find that we had a shared bathroom (rudimentary but clean) in a small over cluttered room with a small bed, no air conditioning and an unwatchable TV. I guess he/we expected these basic comforts in 2012/13, even in a heritage house.... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your response. As you are aware, the day you visited was the hottest day in Perth and the southwest for 80years. Ford House has very high ceilings and verandahs all the way round, with big trees in the garden, but even a heritage house finds it difficult to cope with such heat.... More

We stayed in the Rose Room in the main homestead and enjoyed the experience. The room and shared bathroom were clean and in line with what we expected. (Although the rooms did not have locks, as other reviewers have noted, this did not bother us.) Breakfast was excellent, with both continental and cooked dishes available and some nice homemade touches... More

Ford House, set amongst cottage gardens, is situated on the banks of the Blackwood River in Bridgetown. It is a very peaceful and serene setting and guarantees a good night's sleep. Having a kitchen and sitting room at our disposal also made us feel like home. I spent a pleasant few hours one afternoon sitting on the back patio overlooking... More

Dear MBond55, Thank you for such a generous response. Im glad that you enjoyed it, and our alladins cave of of goods from all over the world. Cobwebs are the bane of our lives as the ceilings are so high, and I hate using Killer chemicals'. We will give extra attention to them though. Thanks. More

When we first arrived late in the evening we where not overly impressed. The doors didn't lock and we had to share a bathroom. We learned later you could get a room with your own bathroom. It was dark out so we didn't appreciate house at the time. We knew there was lots of history to it but it just... More

Really lovely place to stay. Never stayed anywhere as quite unique as Ford House. Stayed in Cooks Retreat room. Such a lovely atmosphere in the room and surrounds. Breakfast is awesome at the shared table in the barn, with geese waiting for a bite as well at the door! Definitely recommend.

I've stayed at Ford House twice -- both time in the Jarrah Room in the original Ford House homestead. The grounds are wonderful in all seasons, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore, beautiful gardens, and riverside strolls. The accommodation is filled with curios and old-world decorations, paintings, photos and the like, that add a great deal of atmosphere... More

Ford house is amazing, I enjoyed the garden and the giftshop. The geese kept me amused too. Next time I think I'd want to stay in a room that is able to be locked. Staff assure visitors that nothing ever happens and they don't feel that it's necessary for the building to be locked but I feel that security is... More

We are so glad that you liked Ford House, its shop and our 5 acres of gardens. As you probably realise, you were staying in historic Ford House that was built 116 years ago, and locks were unusual between rooms. Given we have decorated with antiques in the style of the house and as you know, you did have a... More
