Congratulations to the Chef and staff - what a surprise, a pub with truly great food! We had the fish of the day, moist, well prepared, perfect snapper! and the lamb rack which was perfectly prepared! Thank you & congratulations!

We have stayed at and eaten at the Federal hotel a number of times and have always gone away very satisfied with accommodation (for the price paid) and have always been happy with the food. That was until our last stay on Thursday night. I was not realy happy on our last stay in October when I noticed the womens... More

No reception, checking in means queuing at the bar. Pleasant enough. Rooms up a flight of stairs round the back. Past beer kegs and storage. No en suite. No aircon. No plug for sink. No hanging storage. No room servicing. Only 2 toilets and showers for all the rooms. No bath. Main exit between the gents loo and ablutions. Communal... More

few of the normal hotel luxuries that I have enjoyed over the years. This hotel lets us see that airco, receptions etc are not so important. The rooms of the hotel are upstairs. No lift, no porters. And no airco, (is downstairs in the bar). Had a fantastic couple of days here. You get an idea of how life might... More

Went here last night and both my wife & I had the steak, one with pepper sauce and the other with mushroom sauce. Big call but Neither if us can remember having a better pub meal. It was sensational! We went on to watch a local band in the front bar and drink the local ale. A night we will... More

Nice atmosphere, food good, well set out, restaurant and bars seperate. The menu was full of gluten free options but most were unavailable on order, so that was a bit disappointing for our coeliac family member. My chicken whilst looked messy on the plate was to die for yum!

I have eaten here countless times. When I first started coming here the food was awesome ( best place to get a steak ) then the meals and the menu became quite average ( steak became really over cooked for medium rare). I learnt one day that original chef came back so I decided try the place again and the... More

We stayed here last week on a trip to Queensland. To be fair to the Federal we had never stayed overnight in a pub before so we weren't really prepared for the rowdy late night revellers when we were trying to get some sleep. Having said that the staff were good, the room was spotless along with the shared amenities.... More

An older style hotel with shared amenities (clean ones) but don't let this put you off. The rooms were small but clean and the upstairs balcony was great for a few drinks. The pub has old style character. Food is nice, staff are lovely, locals are friendly and there's entertainment in the main bar on Friday (and some Saturday) nights.... More

I have dined at The Federal a few times, but not for a while now. The atmosphere is always nice as a Pub venue, very popular on this Friday night. So maybe that was a bad choice, whilst it was very busy, I didn't expect to wait 1 hour and ten minutes for our meal. Perhaps we could have been... More
