YHA Bellingen is the ideal hostel to escape from the hype, party and tourist scenes. Looking over lush green river meadows to distance forest clad mountains yet only a minutes stroll to the café strip and charms of the old world Bellingen township. Rainforest walks, bike rides and exploration of the pristine waters of Never Never Ck. in the nearby... More

Pros Fantastic location in the centre of town behind the hotel Beautiful old two story lodge that makes you feel you are staying in someone's home Great views across to the river and seeing the flying foxes leave their nests each night Staff very helpful and friendly Cons Agree with other travellers, $90 for a room with a shared bathroom... I stayed at this hostel on the recommendation of other backpackers and I was getting fatigued with travelling. I booked in for a week and ended up staying 9 days in total as I really loved the vibe of the place and the hostel. I had arranged to be collected from the airport at Coffs Harbour and one of the... The view from the hostel is amazing. The girls who work the new night shift are so lovely. There are wild water dragons and possums crawling around the beautiful trees that surround the hostel. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing natural get away.

This hostel has a good location, views and charming staff however the $90 price tag for a single room with share bathroom is a gouge. The main drawback of the place is the complete lack of any sound proofing so you get noise from your neighbours, from the people drinking on the verandah into the night and the amateur musicians... We stayed here as we were on route to the Blue Mountains from Byron Bay. It is tucked away from the main high street with a lovely view of the hills and overlooking the river. It seems a throwback to the 60s in its whole outlook and is a very we'll run place with friendly staff and a good kitchen... More

I'm traveling Australia by myself by cycling. I decided to stay at Bellingen Backpacker before to visit the great Dorrigo National Park. Great warm accommodation. Nice people, great staff, excellent kitchen. I'm relax a lot myself and it was like to be in a great family. Very recommended!

I stayed 1 night at this YHA, with my boyfriend. We were in a dorm but with the low season, the only people in the room. The staff is really nice, and the atmosphere is "cool", we appriciate that. The kitchen is well furnished, there is a shelf with free food that anyone can take (or add more stuffs). Everything... More

YHA Bellingen is a quieter hostel in a quiet town. Our stay there was wonderful with brilliant staff and fellow travellers, and the cat was the cherry on top. The rooms are comfortable for those looking for just a nice bed for the cold night and there are shops and cafes just round the corner!
