The hotel was recommended to us for our anniversary. We had a great room with a great view and loved the isolated location. BUT the food was very very average, we had 2 nice waitresses and 2 very very unfriendly ones. What really spoilt it for us was the attitude of the reception staff, they just didn't seem to care... more

I was treated to four nights here. A rare example of a posh hotel that's also aesthetically pleasing. Work by Hepworth, Heron, Hitchens and Hilton, among many others, on the walls and in the grounds. Beautifully decorated rooms with balconies or little patio gardens. Excellent food (especially the deserts, when we were there) and wine, and although I'm allergic to... more

My partner and i arrived on Bryher and were greeted by a charming young man who introduced himself as David, took our luggage ,before taking us to the Hell Bay Hotel On arrival we were greeted at the door by the hotel manager (Philip) and the hotels other resident greeter (Suzie) who is a springer spaniel. We checked in with... more

Overall There are some excellent, in some cases unique things here (what a location!), in nicely decorated buildings thoughtfully designed. The food is very good and service is by enthusiastic but often inexperienced staff who are given too little senior guidance. If we went again, we’d go later in the season, and probably out of school holidays for a romantic... more

My partner and I had been looking forward to this holiday for some time and we had a great time on Bryher. The standard of the room was high although not perfect, There was little evidence that our room was cleaned at a level beyond perfunctory, wineglasses were left dirty and our bed not remade beyond where I had pulled... more

After a great night at The Star Castle Hotel in St Marys, we were really excited about Hell Bay. We arrived at lunch time and had an OK lunch before heading to our room. Recently redecorated the room was great. A good size, big bed, double shower and fantastic views out to sea. After a walk around the island and... more

all of the arrangements went really smoothly and we were met at Bryher Quay by a really friendly and knowledgeable member of staff. Our room was superb (studio suite) with views that were to die for...so much so we kept the curtains open so we could wake up to them!! The staff in reception were helpful and welcoming and check... more

My family stayed at this hotel for an extended weekend for my father's 65th birthday and it was fantastic. The staff are very helpful and keep you informed about all the boat times to different islands as well as suggested walks to do. There is very limited mobile phone reception in the hotel - but who cares?! The rooms are... more

I cannot fault this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who wants a luxury holiday in the UK. We had a room with a balcony and stunning views, definitely request one of these on the upper floor for the best views. You cannot fail to relax on Bryher and despite the small size of the island there is plenty... more
