Villa Sassolini is pitched as a boutique hotel Spa but it appears to be run by a couple who are more experienced interior designers than hoteliers. Where to begin: 1.Whilst the building is beautiful and in a wonderful setting, the view is obscured by a hedge and the grounds are tired (brown hedges and weeds growing underfoot) 2.No/ intermittent wifi.... All about your expectations… this is not run like a hotel, but more like a big bed and breakfast trying to be luxurious but failing in many areas. They work tirelessly but more staff is certainly necessary to enhance the overall experience. You can find the manager serving as check-in, concierge, maintenance worker, landscaper, chef, busboy, waiter, and bellhop all... More

A beautiful luxury hotel in a stunning remote location. Run by a very friendly couple who made us feel welcome. Decor was stylish, muted greys (they even had a matching muted grey friendly dog!!) and luxury fabrics. Our room was faultless in both style and layout. Canopy bed and powerful shower with soft towels and lovely products. The breakfast and... More

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights, we got upgraded to a deluxe room and while there was no valley or pool view (we had views of the houses nearby), this did not bother us as the room was large with a king bed, small dining table & chairs, and we had a very large ensuite with bath... More

This is a very nice designer boutique hotel. Inside the hotel, we found ourselves immersed in great style and tasteful interior decorations. It's a pity the meticulous attention to style and design did not extend beyond the 4 walls of the hotel, the pool area and the garden outside were nothing special. Would be nice if they had done up... More

Just return after a very relaxing 5 night stay at Villa Sassolini, our new favourite retreat! Arriving at the entrance, you are immediately greeted by the very tranquil setting and beautiful decor-earthy grey tones, natural materials. We just loved it. It appealed to our taste - old, historic building, beautifully restored with tasteful, modern, comfortable interiors. The staff were lovely... More

My girlfriend and I travelled to Villa Sassolini after we had spent four great days in the city of Florence. We wanted to get a bit of rest and enjoy the area and food before ending our week in Italy. I had done research about places to stay and came across this hotel. Looking at the reviews and seeing it... More

This hotel was the perfect choice for a relaxed escape in the Tuscan countryside in between city stops. Very nice feel and decor to the hotel and very welcoming and genuine small and close-knit team of staff working there. Restaurant is also very good. Perfect for couples or friends seeking a retreat. Strongly recommend

There are many places to choose from in Tuscany. And there are many places advertising a boutique hotel experience. When we scanned the offers for this summer, we noted that they all share in common the tuscan country furniture and the terracotta floors. Old style. This place is different. A true gem, a splendid boutique hotel, and, most of all,... More

This is a late entry as we spent 3 days/nights at Sassolini in May this year. The location is quiet and rural, the Villa charming, very tastefully decorated and oozes "cool", our room overlooking the Tuscan countryside was large with a quality shower room, the view was typical Tuscany. The food was very good with (usefully for me) only 3/4... More
