I have stayed at Relais de la Magdeleine several times. First time was on my Honeymoon, years ago. It was one of the high points of our experience in France. We loved it so much we went back several times (from the USA). I had not been there in ten years and just recently stayed at Gemenos again, this August... More

This was our second stay at this amazing little hotel. The staff were friendly and we felt welcome in their haven. Our room and bathroom were huge and had every comfort one would need. The breakfast was delicious and served in a magnificent setting. Thank you to all for making our stay so wonderful.

This is our favorit favorite hotel in Provence. An old mansion from the 17 century, beautifully furnished with authentic and original furniture. All rooms are individually decorated in the old style. The food is amazing and the wines are good. To sit under the plane trees and have a drink while waiting for the dinner is magical. Here time stops... More

Stayed here one night with a group of friends and found it very relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Marseille. It is well sign-posted at the fountain so easy to find once you get to Gemenos, although the address we were given "Rue de 2eme cuirassier" doesnt come up on the car navigation. Arriving is very picturesque with the... More

The hotel and the grounds have a nice old world charm BUT with that old world charm comes some old world people who for the life of me baffles why they are even open for business . The staff is SO rude ( mainly the older woman behind the desk" and could care less about you and your stay while... More

Beautiful setting surrounded by mature plane trees with many places to relax. It's quiet and everywhere you look is a picturesque scene...the grounds, pool, surrounding hills, and French antiques. For that it was worth it to me, but not my partner. We may have been more welcome had we dined there first thing, looked stylish, and spoke excellent French. They... More

We stayed at the Bastide Madgeleine for two nights when we attended the Aix Festival in July 2013. The location is good, 20km from Marseille and 30km from Aix. Don't be scared off by the neighborhood, you drive through the outskirts of Marseille, the setting is wonderful. The place is run by a French lady and her two sons. Although... More

The hotel is a blast from the past, but for the here and now.....and that's just what makes it so appealing..it is family owned which is wonderful, from Madam who overseas everything, to her sons, who make the hotel tick. Rooms The rooms are traditional, some air conditioned, some not, but all have their own charm. TV's and slightly dated... More

If you're looking for a thoroughly modern 21st Century kind of hotel experience with US-style customer service, then this hotel probably won't be for you....... However if you want a thoroughly authentic French country hotel experience, in a beautiful dreamy setting with an excellent dinner and breakfast outside under the trees in the warmer months, then you can't do much...
