We did a four night trip with Inkanatura - three nights at Heath River Lodge followed by a night at Sandoval Lake Lodge. In our view, Sandoval was good, but not as good as Heath River. First, it's very close to Puerto Maldonado. On the Sunday we could hear the music from the nearby town. It certainly isn't deep into... More

My husband and I travelled here in June as part of a trip to various places in Peru. This was our first stop and we were very happy. We were picked up right at the airport, given details on the way to the office, met our personal guide at the office that took us all the way to the lodge.... More

This is a detailed review and all you need to know about Sandoval Lake Lodge. We booked directly with Inkanatura, the owner and operator of the lodge. We did the 4 days/3 nights, which was just right as in reality you arrive at the lodge around 3-4pm on day 1 and must depart by 8:30am on day 4. With Inkanatura,... More

A very cool full service experience. We stayed 3 nights, 4 days. I wouldn't have stayed longer, could have done a day less and it would have been ok +The guides are excellent and the wildlife plentiful. +the boat ride /hike/canoe ride to the lodge are great +food is yummy and drinkable water is available all the time - it... Rustic but adquate. The food was good. The manager and bartender were average. Our guides were fantastic. We especially like Pepe, Roger and Edie. Saw lots of interesting plants and animals. If you get any chiggers use Tecnu. It works really well.

If you're looking for a pampered 5* experience, this is not it. Instead, we found rustic jungle accommodation that was comfortable, safe and became part of the rainforest experience. The lodge itself is built as a long building with the lobby/dining area in the middle and a set of rooms to the left and right. The lodge - open concept,... More

We loved Sandoval Lake Lodge. We had expected the site to be overrun by tourists (such as us), and expected it to be more commercial. Well that wasn't the case. There is plenty of room for everyone. The wildlife is wonderful: giant otters, monkeys (we saw three types), brilliant birdlife, butterflies of all colours, and cayman. The lake surrounded by... More

An incredible lace to see a wide range of wildlife. Parots, macaws, hoatzin, giant otters, caymen, 6 kinds of monkeys, sloths, snakes, more insects than you can imagine of every shape and size. The lodge was very comfortable, and the food was fantastic. Staff and guides were brilliant, so keen that you got to see all you wanted.

I loved Sandoval Lake Lodge because of the unique wildlife i.e. the wood lick for the parrots and maccaws, and the chance to see giant river otters. The hike in can be intimidating but if you wear long sleeves, pants and bug spray, it isn't too bad. The rooms are basic - beds with mosquito nets and the rooms have... More

Others have already posted on how to get here so I will concentrate on the wildlife around this beautiful eco-minded lodge. My daughter and I stayed at the Sandoval Lake Lodge for 3 days (as part of our vacation) - we were amazed by all the varieties of birds, mammals and insects we had never seen before. We were paddled... More
