I've stayed here at least half a dozen times on various trips across Guyana over the past two years, as a solo traveler, on business, and as part of organized tour groups. My most recent visit was in October of 2009. As mentioned elsewhere, Rock View offers a unique level of hospitality, service, and infrastructure in the Rupununi. It isn't... more

Don't get me wrong; the North Rupununi is a gorgeous region well worth visiting to see intact ecosystems, endangered critters, and to meet Amerindians living traditional lifestyles. But for travelers who are used to a comfortable, modern lifestyle, the Rupununi is hot and humid and logistics are difficult. After a week in more off-the-grid locations -- which are spectacular in... more

It was lovely to stay here in the middle of our trip and have some comforts, we really enjoyed cooling off in the pool. Colin is a great host, very generous with the rum punches! It is very interesting to hear about life in Guyana. This was the one place that hadn't run out of soft drinks, or alcoholic drinks throughout... more

It was good to relax mid trip in the most comfortable lodge. We enjoyed a productive early morning birding walk with a good guide, otherwise were happy just to relax and enjoy the pool and stroll around the garden rather than take any of the optional extra trips. The garden has been planted with shrubs and flowers in mind to... more

I can't say that I hated the place ... it was perfectly comfortable. However, everyone seemed far more interested in making money than in the wildlife. Apart from Hendrix (the birding guide, who was great) everyone else seemed uninterested in the surroundings and had a very laissez faire attitude. The trip to the local school was a fiasco. And to... more

We stayed at Rock View after staying at 1 night at Atta and 2 nights at Surama, both about an hour from Rock View. The rooms are extremely comfortable and are the best accommodation available in the North Rupununi. We were in 'Jabaru' and were often joined by a hummingbird who flew into and through the room! The rooms are... more

Rock View Lodge is located between the Amerindian Village of Annai and Rupertee in the North Rupununi Savannah close to the Pakairama Mountains. You can fly or take ground transporation to get there (not advised as it takes about 12 hours) and from the moment you arrive you are treated as family. Accommodation is in comfortable, well furnished self-contained suites... more
