Very relaxing. Horse treks good fun and an escape from normal life. Food is hearty and staff are friendly. Setting and building are beautiful. There was an ash eruption at Cotopaxi whilst we stayed and the staff handled it well. Impressed the hacienda took in cattle from down the valley to protect them.

We stayed in the Cotopaxi Suite in Hacienda El Porvenir; this quaint hacienda is very beautiful and the suite was very cosy. Like other reviewers have said, they provide extra blankets and electric heater and warm water bottles, though the room was well-insulated and the fireplace actually made it quite warm. The hacienda is about 5 miles from the north... More

If you want to get away from everything, with views of the world's second highest active volcano, this is your place. Cotapaxi was puffing away while we were there, and the landscape is amazing with Andean condors high overhead. We were greeted at the hacienda with traditional tea and snacks, in front of a big fireplace. Wood burning stoves are... More

You are just 5 minutes from the entrance to Cotopaxi Park and from the hacienda you can see (weather permitting) the top of the volcano. The Hacienda is nice, very cosy and you can warm up in front of a wood fire in the main building as well as in your room. The room was fine but they can be noisy if you... we greatly enjoyed staying in this very atmospheric hacienda...the walks on the property itself are great, and the riding. It is wonderfully positioned for Cotapaxi, and the staff are very welcoming...even to the detail of the much appreciated hot water bottles brought to warm our beds in the evening. The setting and buildings themselves stay long I the memory.

Loved it - great stay - very welcoming and friendly staff. Great food. Rustic, homely accommodation - cosy wood burning fires in the comfy welcoming lounge and at bedtime - hot water bottles offered for those chilly nights - after all you are at c4000m.

My mom and I stayed at the Hacienda during our 1-week trip in Ecuador. Sadly, we only had one night at the Hacienda, but I'm so glad we went. Jorge and his team made us feel super welcome from the moment we arrive to the moment we left. The food was delicious, and especially impressive given the remote location. The... More

We stayed at El Porvenir for two nights and enjoyed every minute in this beautiful location. The Hacienda buildings themselves are stunning against the backdrop of volcanoes, sweeping valleys and blue sky. The clouds came and went, affording good views. Our room (#17) was small but very comfortable and nicely furnished. Hot water bottles were delivered nightly as like most... More

We wanted to book for three nights. Our plan was to see the region but were not sure what to book. The booking staff at Tierra del Volcan were very accommodating and creative. They provided us with a package that included a fantastic guide, (Santiago) accommodations, meals, hiking and exploring, with a history lesson thrown in. Very comfortable accommodations, there... El Porvenir is one of my very favorite places in Ecuador. The setting is stunning, the hacienda is warm and inviting, and the hospitality is top notch. The food at the restaurant is extremely creative nuevo-Ecuadorian cuisine and delicious. Definitely go for a horse-back ride and do the high ropes course! Highly recommended if you want to explore the Cotopaxi... More
