This little B&B in the South of France is outstanding. Rosalie and William are extraordinary!! Want a wine tour - got it, visit a castle - sure, see cave paintings- of course, or maybe the other shroud of Jesus -why not. Or make it a rest stop between other visits and enjoy the pool, the wine, the gardens, the food... More

What would you get if you crossed an interior designer with a head for management and haut cuisine with a Renaissance man of American/French parentage who loves history and landscaping? You wold probably get something like Domaine du Haut Baran. In no time guests feel like eagerly anticipated house guests and leave as friends. This chateau had been neglected and... More

Nestled in a lush and ancient region of SW France is this Eden for artists, history buffs, and lovers of unspoiled nature. Listed as one of National Geographic's top Secret Places, the Lot Valley has been inhabited for at least 29,000 years, when magnificent cave paintings were made. Mideval castles, towns and churches of honey-colored stone are everywhere, perched impossibly... More

Agree with most reviews this place is beautiful, with a stunning pool, huge rooms and a quant french country side location. If you're looking to relax this is perfect. My only gripe would be Breakfast is a little light ....but then jumping into such a beautiful pool shortly after quickly helps the hunger Great stay

Come here and you will be well taken care of by owners William and Rosalie Hass, a warm and friendly French/American couple who have lived here and called this place home for about 15 years. The Haut Baran is located in a quiet rural area in the Lot department of SW France, and the building simply oozes charm and character... More

I and 12 others were on the trip with Cathleen S who writes the "French Spoken" review. From day one this woman was finding fault and pouting about anything she could find, while 12 other people were over the moon about the accomodations, food, spirit of service and the fabulous facility. Cathleen was marginalized almost immediately by the group for... More

A lovely setting, but one doesn't feel much joy coming from the owners. Though William has incredible knowledge about the area and is at his best regailing the history, Rosalie always has the same answer to every question: NO. Perhaps it is because she spends her time doing laundry or dishes? They have a british cook (! ) and only... More

The Haut Baran is an exclusive boutique B&B. Located in a quiet rural area in the South of France, and has magnificent landscape views. Year after year artists return to this place, to capture the beauty of the area. The owners William and Rosalie are fluent in both english and french. William has outstanding knowledge of french culture, french wine... More

In September 2002, 14 of us rented out Domaine du Haut Baran. We were an odd mix of people wanting to spend a week cycling, sightseeing, eating, and drinking. William and Rosalie worked very hard to make sure that every one of us had a fantastic vacation. The location is picturesque. The grounds are spacious. The rooms are comfortable, and... More

My friend & I had such a spectacular time at the Domaine du Haut Baran. This B&B is a lovely French restored farmhouse which sits on a rolling French countryside. The beauty is inscribable and must be experienced with your eyes. Rosalie & William are such lovely hosts....from the spectacular tours that William gives to the delicious breakfast that Rosalie...
