This quaint old fashioned family run hotel and restaurant in the centre of the beautiful Medieval town of Mirepoix is a must for any visitors to the area. This is not fine dining, but it is good, wholesome, down to earth traditional French cooking and cuisine, that you would hope to find and at affordable prices. Whether you are eating... More

Good central location but the hotel is long past its prime. Bedrooms are tiny, small sagging mattresses and musty odours made one night here a hardship! On a positive note the garden is pleasant place for an aperitif. The breakfasts primarily consist of stale bread, tasteless coffee and yogurt

I quite liked this hotel. It's quite quaint and a nice old building. The rooms are a bit dated yes, but that's part of the charm. But if you like freedom or think you might get back late at night, it's probably not for you. For one thing, you have to hand in your key every time you go out... More

I have been going to "le Commerce" since 1983 every year on our way to Spain. Yes, it is an old fashion hotel but I much rather have character and charm , than the non descript accommodation you can find in some "chain" hotels. The restaurant too is pretty good value. I shall be going again in 2 days time,... More

I stayed here three times ten years ago, whilst buying a house in the town. The bedrooms are a little old fashioned, but we discovered a top floor room with ensuite shower which was pleasant and light. Half the price of a Carcassonne hotel where we stayed at about the same time. Since then we've eaten there regularly. Service is... More

Unpretentious, but totally good, honest food. We were three friends, meeting for lunch, and were just too early in the season to eat 'au jardin'. No problem, indoors was just fine. We all decided to go for the 'menu du jour'. Starters of charcuterie/salads was tasty, wonderful rustic bread, replenished throughout the meal went well with the next course of... More

We stayed here for two nights in later April, my last stay having been in 2006. The hotel is very comfortable, the food was really excellent and good value, and the owners were very charming and helpful. Will definitely go back.

Arriving late in the evening I was happy just to get a room and see that food was being served in their busy restaurant. However, the experience was memorable only for its mediocrity, harking back as it did to the 1950s. The meal was okay; the accommodation was bearable, the bathroom was a danger to anyone who was at all... More

A wonderful little place in a fantastic Medieval town. Greeted warmly by an old french lady who seemed to be there before I got up in the morning and still there when I was settling in for the night. Run in a traditional old French style with old timber every where, The Bedroom was clean extremely comfortable and spacious for... More

Over the last few days I have been wracking my brains to remember the name of the bathroom suite colour, popular in the 70s that was a sort of goldy yellow colour and I think it may have well been pampas. Why? Because the en suite in my room at The Commerce was just this colour which puts it at... More
