Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay in May. Had the itinerary allowed it we would definitely have stayed longer. We had the Virunga Suite, which was very nice and very clean. Separate bedroom with comfy king size bed and large bathroom, plus bonus living room area with separate entrance to garden. The room was decorated with wood carvings and masks....

Travellers' Rest is an excellent place for tourists visiting the endangered mountain gorilla in Southwest Uganda. The hotel, built in a somewhat colonial style, has twelve rooms at reasonable prices. The garden is home to many birds, and in the evenings, when it gets cooler, visitors can warm themselves at the fireplace, outside or in the lounge. "Gorillas in the Mist" researcher Dian Fossey stayed here many times, calling it her "second home".
