We had this place recommended to us by a friend in Moshi and were not disappointed. The rooms are relatively clean, huge comfy beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning, and private bathroom. It was pretty cheap for the quality and we were even able to bargain our rates down once we had a friend transfer to stay with us. The... More

The room and breakfast were OK, although the location is excellent and within walking distance of all the major sites and the beach :). Our double room appeared clean enough but generally felt a little old and worn out. For a budget hotel though, it was fine. (We sampled a couple of budget hotels in Stone Town, and this was... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in Feb 2013. I must admit that we were somewhat concerned after reading the reviews about bed bugs but decided to keep an open mind. The guest house is in a very convenient location in Stone Town. It is reasonably quiet (except for the early morning calls to the mosque). The rooms are OK... More

I only stayed here one night, and didn't spend much time in the lodge except to sleep, but the rooms were very comfortable and I enjoyed it. The beds are big, and have mosquito nets, which I would highly recommend using because of the open windows. Private bathroom was nice, there is a cabinet that you can lock valuables in;... More

There were bed bugs all over our beds in the first room, and in all the rooms on thr ground floor. And the person there refused to admit these were actually bugs, even after seeing them crawling around! I finally moved to a room on the 3rd floor that appeared to be bug free. I would not recommend this hotel... More

We killed two bugs in the first room. They changed us to another room, and found bedbugs there too. Had paid for 3 nights, and they were VERY reluctant to refund any money. It was like a 2-hour hassle with them. If it was clean, it would be an acceptable low-end hotel.

Served it purpose, a stop over for 1 night before starting an overland camping trip through Eastern Africa - convenient walk to every where, no lounge though, so we walked up to the Africa House for dinner and drinks. (didn't review it, but WAY over priced). But I easily walked to the slave memorial, the beach, post office and liquor... More

Stayed for 3 nights. Friendly staff, clean and reasonably priced. Good mosquito net with no holes and large comfy bed. Decent breakfast although watch out for the crows eyeing up your food! I also like the location which is just out of stone town, so its a but less hectic. I would stay here again.

We stayed here two nights and to be honest it was basic but nothing flash. I am a backpacker and my motto is as long as it is clean then it is fine, this place wasn't as clean as I would have liked. The sheets had stains on them and the bathroom still had hair visible on the floor. The... More

I loved the Garden Lodge. It was like staying in a large old style house. The room was reasonably priced and each one different. There was even hot water which can be a bit of a luxury!! The lodge had lovely balconys to sit and chill on and a nice rooftop terrace to sit and read a book in the... More
