My partner and I stayed at Shooting Star for 5 nights. We wished we could stay forever! Amazing views, comfy rooms, good food, and just an overall great atmosphere. It feels luxurious yet down to Earth at the same time. We stayed in the sea view cottages which were gorgeously furnished with Zanzibari decor. One note about the rooms is... More

We spent five nights here as a family of four with our two teenage sons (19 and 17), on the recommendation of Aardvark Safaris. The hotel's position is fantastic on a cliff above a beautiful beach, set in attractively landscaped grounds. It has a reasonable sized pool which is good as when the tide is out you can't swim in... My wife and I stayed 5 days at Shooting Star about 6 weeks ago on our trip to Zanzibar and Tanzania and very much liked it. The room we had (Seaview) was really very nice with a huge bed covered with flowers when we arrived and a mosquito net all around that made it very romantic actually. The room was... More

I stayed here for a week in October 2010 and couldn't have been happier. The rooms were beautiful and airy, the pool is stunning with a view of the ocean, the staff treats you better than family. The food at the lodge is great, they even make their own baked goods. I also thought it was a nice touch that... More

After spending 4 nights at this hotel I have only good recommendations. First, it is in front of a stunning and peaceful beach. It has a nice swimming pool, great food and drinks, helpful staff. Some small details make the friendly atmosphere of the hotel even better, such as a range of board games to play at night.

We stayed 4 nights at the lodge in febr -14 and found it to give very good value for money. The feeling is familiar and friendly. The houses are nice and well maintained and cleaned. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The location is maybe not the best. the beaches close to the lodge are not that inviting for... More

Wow! The food, the staff, the pool - everything was awesome. The grounds make use of natural materials for decorations, which I think is an amazing extra touch. The public washrooms use washable towels for drying your hands, which I also really appreciated. The pool was lovely with slightly salty water, but no smell of chemicals. We had some services... We have just returned from Christmas and New Year at the Shooting Star Lodge with our family. Three generations all exhausted from work, school etc and so relieved that we had chosen exactly the right location for us all. We had a good cross selection of cottages as we were a party of nine and all are beautifully decorated with... More

We started our African honeymoon here and it was the most wonderful place to do that. It was so relaxing and beautiful. It was recommended by our agent Rose Hipwood of Africa Rose Travel (africarosetravel.com) and we were delighted, and relieved, to end up at this small, intimate hotel rather than one of the enormous resorts in this area. We... More

Shooting Star is a beautiful, quiet place in which to relax after a safari. We chose it after reading about the sea view cottages and were not disappointed in the least. The views from our cottages were nothing short of spectacular, and most of the time we got an ocean breeze on our porches which made for very comfortable sitting.... More
