My wife and I stayed in the Sultana room and had a wonderful couple of nights. The manager couldn't do enough to help us. The location, the room, the food and the service were all top notch. more

The welcome from the owners is very warm and they made sure we knew all the places to see and do in stone town and advised and booked for a day long trip to take. Rooms are great (if a bit of a hike for those on higher floors - staff thankfully offered to help carry our luggage). They get... more

Great hotel in Stonetown, with good service and charming rooms. But expensive, so value for money arent the best. Overall - would recommend if you can afford! more

Stayed 2 nights. A good welcome with drink and flannel. 1st night in suite- nice big room huge bed but bathroom up another flight of steps and open air which would have been nice if it was more private. Anyone looking out their window could see you plus a lot of workmen of rooves around so it wasnt very nice... more

Just arrived back from Zanzibar after fantastic stay at Zanzibar Palace which proved for us to be the icing on the cake at the end of our Tanzanian adventure. As other reviewers have said there is a wonderful welcome for all with juice and cold flannels and a choice of things to do in Stone Town which the hotel will... more

We stayed in this hotel as a surprise visit after problems with our other flights from elsewhere in Africa. We arrived a little wary about what to expect but were greeted with lots of smiles, (much needed) cold flannels and fruit juice. Although it was past their normal serving time for food, the owner kindly arranged a lovely meal for... more

We loved every bit of our stay at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel...we arrived before our room was ready but were greeted with cold cloths and fresh-squeezed juice as well as smiles and friendliness from the manager, Jan. He helped put our bags behind reception, printed us out a map, and highlighted where the different areas of Stone Town were located.... more

We booked the sultana suite for two nights in July as the start to our trip around zanzibar. We had read all of the reveiws, and really were not disappointed. The hotel was absolutely charming, in a great location and with fantastic staff. Our room was huge, with a four poster bed and corner bath. We also had a balcony... more

We stayed in the Zanzibar Palace for 3 days at the end of our honeymoon in September. We were very disappointed, as we expected a boutique hotel, and it's really more of an average bed and breakfast. And for 295$ a night, well, you'd expect a lot more. We were in the Sherali Suite, and it's large...but a shabby old... more
