The Zanzibar Palace Hotel is located in a historic hotel building in the middle of the old town of Stonetown. It has been partly refurbished recently, conserving a lot of its local touch. Compared to international standard the hotel’s official four stars (or even four and a half) are rather exaggerated. We were first offered a suite with the toilet... More

This is a marvelous hotel choice in Stone Town. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was so comfortable (we had the suite with the outdoor bathroom on the third floor!), and the food was delicious! The location is perfect for exploring Stone Town and everything of interest is within a 15 minute walk. We couldn't ask for a... More

Spent the night at the palace on our first night in Zanzibar. The room was very big and had excellent North African Style furnishings. The owner at the front desk was very friendly and was able to set up a city tour with a guide for us in just a few minutes which was a great intro to the town.... More

When I arrived at Zanzibar Palace Hotel, I had an issue with wanting to have more people stay at the hotel. The staff was very accomodating and helped us into a larger room and didn't charge us full rate for it. There is a free breakfast that was quite good and the help staff was nice. They have a turn... Clearly there's a great disparity between rooms in this establishment although not their high rates, because our two smallish, dark, and dusty rooms with their laughably miniscule bathrooms looked nothing like the rooms shown in the hotel photos. We found the staff indifferent at best, and the breakfast mediocre. The only bright spot was the juice they served (as does... More

We enjoyed a full week in the amazing Sultana Suite at the end of our month long East African adventure. What a way to round off a fantastic holiday. The Zanzibar Palace Hotel is not only a beautiful place in a lovely quiet part of the old town, but the staff are very friendly and helpful, with the food some... More

We stayed for only one night in a suite on the first floor. It was charming and authentic, the bathroom was really nice, spacious and modern, and there was free wifi. We slept very well! The welcome was warm and friendly. Nice breakfast. It was a brief visit but we liked this place for its authenticity and for having a... More

Ask for the Sultana suite, it has a massive bath tub, amazing for relaxing after a long sightseeing tour. Lovely family run hotel, who preserved the original beauty of this house. Very flexible, and helpful, they are always there for you. Right in the heart of the town, you will feel special here! Worthy winners of several awards! Thank you... More

After a long journey, it was a relief to turn up at The Zanzibar Hotel. We were checked in straight away, despite being early, so we could grab a couple of hours kip before venturing out into Stone Town. The rooms are very African with beautiful furniture and plenty of space. We slept like logs. Breakfast is lovely - despite... More
