My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon. We loved the hotel and our themed room. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the Stone Town experience...one of our highlights in Tanzania.

Interesting historical hotel The rooms were all themed Some of the rooms were quite basic . Service was good, management helpful and the Swahili dinner was excellent. Stone Town is run down and I would not rush to see it anymore

We stayed for a week at this hotel end November and beginning December. The suites were individually furnished and each one had it's own theme. We were living in at suite called Arabiq on third floor (top floor). We also had dinner at their restaurant a couple of time. The food was much better than OK and the service was... More

Stayed at the Zanzibar palace hotel recently for one night (I believe the rosewood suite) and had a wondeful time. We arrived very late at night and were greeted warmly with refreshing drinks. The room itself was simple and clean with beautiful decorations. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful- going out of their way to greet... More

We stayed for 2 nights at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel after a busy tour elsewhere in East Africa. We had a room on the second floor. The room was carefully decorated with carved, wooden furniture and the bed was very comfortable. There was not much space for setting up suitcases but there was a closet in the room. There is... This was the last night of our trip to Zanzibar and the hussle and bussle of Stone Town. This small gem is tucked away down a narrow street and could easily be missed. We were greeted and shown to our room, which should have been on the second floor but as I have some problems with stairs (NO Lift) we... More

The Zanzibar Palace is (by African standards) a very good hotel, conveniently located for exploring Stonetown on foot. We stayed in the Shaba suite; entrance hall (of little value, there being no hanging or storage facilities except the floor, or an antique cupboard), bathroom and bedroom, Satellite TV provided BBC and Sky news but there was only one chair to... What a wonderful Oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of busy Stone Town. Robert and his team were very accommodating. The staff were very friendly and helpful and patient in teaching us the Boa game! The rooms were very comfortable, and clean with lots of space. The Location was excellent and central to the port and markets. We really did... More

Unfortunately we only stayed a night which was cut even shorter due to flight changes. The Manager was very accommodating and arranged a car to pick us up at 2330 no problem. We were warmly welcomed by the night porter at 12 midnight and offered a drink before being taken to our room which had been upgraded. The room was beautiful... More

Great location for walking to the market and to the beach. Hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. Our room overlooked the building next door. I think there were better rooms but this is what was left when we booked. We were only there for 2 nights so not in the room much. The food was good but dinner cost... More
