We stayed at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel for only one night but the staff were extremely helpful - they couldn't do enough for us. The hotel was an old merchant 's house and is jam packed full of character. The air conditioning is terrific - Stone Town is pretty hot - and the food in the restaurant is very good.... More

The staff are extremely efficient and friendly. The hotel is unique and very charming. Would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Stone Town. The dining room is excellent with great food and service.

We loved the Zanzibar Palace hotel. It's a beautiful, romantic building, with lovely rooms (you should look at all the rooms that are available, as each has a very distinctive character). Jelle and all his staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and they know how to make their guests feel at home. I really, really hope we'll have the chance... More

We had 2 nights in Stonetown following a mainland safari. This was the perfect escape from the heat and noise of the town and the perfect starting point for full immersion in a distinctive culture. The rooms are large and nicely decorated while retaining much of the original look and feel of the old building. Staff are very friendly and... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Zanzibar Palace hotel at the end of our Tanzanian holiday. All staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help. Rooms are well decorated and very interesting with different themes. Food was excellent and we really enjoyed the Swahili feast. If you are staying in Stone Town I would recommend the Palace... Had a wonderful one night stay in this quaint and beautifully decorated hotel. Both the room and the public spaces are tastefully adorned with cultural treasures. The hotel is peaceful butt centrally located in the heart of Stonetown and the staff personable and friendly. Jelle, the manager, was extremely helpful, shared visitor's information and lined up an insightful tour of... More

Stayed for two nights as part of a diving trip to Mafia & Pemba Islands. Lovely small hotel with an intimate, friendly ambience, set in a small street in the heart of Stonetown. All the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast of fresh juices and fruit, but you have cooked if you want. Didn't eat dinner, so cannot comment. Lovely... More

We loved the decoration both in room (which was spacious & had a balcony) & public areas. All mod cons available without detracting from traditional ambience. Having shower/bath in full view of partner not a problem for us & toilet was seperate if doorless. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great location in the old town, though this did... A wonderful little gem with very distinct furnishings and décor and great service. Jelle, the Manager, went out of his way to arrange tours and in providing great tips on what to do on the Island. Zanzibar is, of course, absolutely magical! My only regret was that I was there solo as my family couldn't join me on this trip.
