Excellent rooms and food. Sure, the stairs are a little steep, but this is Africa, so no elevator companies when these houses were being built in the last century. Jules was obliging and attentive and treated us well. He's Dutch so is direct in making sure you have all you need. The other staff were kind and full of smiles... More

My Husband and I stayed for a night in the Sherali Suite, after a week long Safari in the Serengeti. The location of the Hotel is very convenient to walk around Stone Town and the Staff in very accommodating and friendly. The Hotel has no elevator and the stairs are not very comfortable to climb. So, it might be better... More

We quickly got through the tiny airport and found a taxi to take us to Stonetown on the way it started raining and when we reached the city an apprehensive quiet descended in the taxi. The roads were rutted and flowing with mud and water and the buildings were neglected, dirty and in disrepair. The rain was spectacular, it hurtled... More

Unique rooms, good A/C, very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed two nights, travelling with two other couples. The hotel has a binder with local tours available, we did a walking tour plus a boat ride out to Changuu Island with snorkeling. Reasonably priced and well worth it. We ate out our first night and were disappointed, stayed in and... More

After our wonderful safari adventure we travelled to Zanzibar and had another unique adventure in Stone Town. We stayed at a beautiful hotel right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the town. Zanzibar Palace Hotel was such a unique, beautiful experience for us. On the outside, you are not quite sure what to expect. But when you... More

This hotel is a beautifully renovated old Stone Town house (mansion really). What a treat to enter the blissfully cool lobby from the oppressively hot streets in February. The Dutch managers and owner were very welcoming and the Zanzibari staff were friendly and helpful. As in all these houses there are many, many stairs to climb so you should be... More

Very hospitable staff made our stay super comfy, and upgraded our room as we were on honeymoon as an extra treat! Great location away from the Westernised/touristy areas (although everywhere is only 10 minutes walk away) although was a little difficult to find when not familiar with the area. Facilities were great for the price paid, although I would say... More

This hotel feels very comfortable and cozy. It has a special atmosphere, is very clean and quiet in the middle of Stone Town. I can very much recommend this hotel for both families as well as business travellers; the internet is good and staff is very helpful and friendly; great breakfast!

Hidden among the maze of streets that characterise Stone Town, the Zanzibar Palace hotel is a gem definately worth seeking out. Small, intimate, excellently run and painstakingly restored, the facade is clean and cared-for but appears nothing special standing on a narrow street where every second building desperately need some tender-loving-care. However, once inside it is a haven of style,... More

We stayed at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel for only one night but the staff were extremely helpful - they couldn't do enough for us. The hotel was an old merchant 's house and is jam packed full of character. The air conditioning is terrific - Stone Town is pretty hot - and the food in the restaurant is very good.... More
