We were thoroughly pleased with the Abuso Inn. We did not originally make a booking here but had to book at last minute after another hotel failed with our booking. We only stayed one night but the rooms were spotless and were good value. The bathroom was clean and the water was hot. In addition, the beds were all a... More

Zanzibar and the Abuso Inn both exceeded my expectations. I had no idea what to expect from the island so everything about it, from the architecture of Stone Town to the beauty of the beaches, was a delightful surprise. I did think the Abuso Inn would be okay – just - given that it is so cheap, but actually it... More

Rebuilt after the old building collapsed, this is a basic hotel - no phones in rooms, no Internet, no room service - but is pretty (ask for sea view) and has friendly management and staff. You'll have to ask to organise water in the fridge and about laundry, but any queries and the management will always help. Do use the... More

This is a great hotel centrally located in Stonetown opposite the ferry stop and Tembo Hotel. The breakfast was taken in a "KFC style fried chicken restaurant" downstairs which I presume was part of the establishment. Hamid the owner was very friendly and helpful. Most of Stonetown's attractions are within walking distance of the hotel as is Forodhani gardens which... More

Just back from a trip to Zanzibar and we stayed in the Abuso Inn in Stone Town for 3 nights in total. We were a bit unsure about booking it as there wasn't as many reviews on the property as other hotels in the same price category but we decided to take a chance on it as it was reviewed as... More

This was quite a nice little hotel. Still feels a bit unfinished in terms of the lobby/reception areas but the rooms are quite nice, simple and clean. At least one has a beautiful sea view and the bed in our room was the most comfortable one we slept on in Zanzibar. We negotiated a lower price because it was low... More

I was having trouble finding a place to stay in Stone Town, by the time I got round to booking anything all the places had booked up. I contacted the owner of the Clove hotel as recommended on this website and she was also fully booked but referred me to this new hotel. The room we stayed in was large,... More
