We got the chance to stay in this hotel as an upgrade from another hotel. It is beautifully designed and very organised and tide. The staff is very friendly and helpful It has a nice small pool in the middle which is enough to get a nice cool down in the afternoon. As it has a small part which isn't... More

We were met by the manager at the airport, a friendly and very knowledgable lady who gave us good input on the history of the island, as well as tips on what to do while we were there. The hotel itself is beautiful, arabic inspired charm. Its also very central in Stonetown, so you can basically walk anywhere you want.

Very comfortable place right at the hearth of Stone Town, which was our 1st criterion. Not fancy deco, but a reasonably well restored and very large Omani building, with airy corridors opening on the central space and a very breezy rooftop terrace overlooking the towers of St Joseph's church and the old town all around. Staff were helpful and available.... More

Looked around for hotels that were in town, in good condition and affordable, so we can go around stone town and get used to the place and of course walk our way to Forodhani, Chavda made it easier for us. Its our second time there and will recommend anyone for in town stay. The customer care is great, facilities are... More

We stayed one night at Chavda hotel. It was good location, in the middle of the stone town, african in style and very very helpful and friendly staff all over the place. The downside was that it is no elevator and restaurant is on the roof five stairs up. That is also the place for breakfast so it takes some... More

I spent 1 night at this hotel because my flight was cancelled and we were redirected to this hotel in the city centre. Location is awesome if you plan to walk around the city. The rooftop restaurant has a very nice 180/360 view of the city, although it's arguable that the city landscape is that great. But the main buildings... More

This charming, historic hotel is quite quaint and perfectly situated in Stone Town. The staff was friendly but the rooms could use a little TLC. We had a water leak in our bathroom that caused huge puddles on 3/4 of the bathroom floor each day for the 3 days/nights we were there. We reported it each morning but nothing was... More

First impressions were great. Room was beautiful, bathroom clean, a/c was good (and you need it in Stonetown ). Downside was the fridge did not work well The roof top bar has great views of the town and the food was above average. Staff were polite but you got the impression they did not enjoy their work and just going... More

I stayed in the chavda for two nights when I visited zanzibar. I found the chavda hotel to be a little palace comparing to other places I had stayed during my trip. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were so relaxing, I adored the gour posts it gave me a taste of stonetown. However I wasnt overly happy with... More

I took a group of 24 and would use it again for myself and further group visits. It represents good value for money, the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very good, although bathrooms do need some repairs and updating. Breakfasts were very good in the roof top restaurant. It's location is great for Stonetown.
